Super User MarkH024 Posted August 7, 2013 Author Super User Posted August 7, 2013 Mark, your place is up by Green Lake, correct? Just curious....and what's wrong with pontoons out there, 5dollar...some of us fish for bass off of them here in Wisky! Not on Green but not very far. I haven't got over to green lake this year. I'll try for smallies in the fall there I think. I went to puckaway 3 weeks ago. Caught fish there but nothing to brag on. Quote
5dollarsplash Posted August 7, 2013 Posted August 7, 2013 Lol nothing wrong with pontoons as long as the person at the helm knows what they're doing! Quote
CDobber Posted August 7, 2013 Posted August 7, 2013 Lol nothing wrong with pontoons as long as the person at the helm knows what they're doing! I apparently do not.....the boat has only seen 2 fish caught all season on it, and one was by a 5 yr old that wasn't really paying attention. The other was a very tiny perch by me....and the t-rig I had out for 4 hrs from shore today in 3 different spots produced bites but no hooksets. Quote

Haven't been to either myself, my Dad's PB for smallies was on Little Green Lake, somewhere over 4 lb. He had it stuffed. Quote
Super User MarkH024 Posted September 7, 2013 Author Super User Posted September 7, 2013 Got out to a local lake today for about 2 hours to try out some swimbaits I've been gathering. Lake was super pressured with a lot of bucket fisherman. I started with a Got Em Coach gill in red ear. Had a follow on that pretty early but no takers. After about 30 min I switched to a Bettencourt dying gill (thanks to speedbead). I love the action of this bait and it will be killer up north. Did not convince any IL bass today though. I was fishing boulder areas with scattered weeds.I had to take a 15 min timeout for mother nature to drain her blatter. From there I switched to a 4.5" hudd weedles shad. I found some thicker weed mats to toss into. I saw a pike or a ski roll on it but no commitment. It was probably upper 20's. Nothing huge. Right before I was going to leave I stopped at a really matted area and hooked up finally. 15" bass but it was great to finally get out and wet a line. Headed up north in a couple weeks. Hope to have a better report then. Quote
Super User MarkH024 Posted September 9, 2013 Author Super User Posted September 9, 2013 i know that felt good!! brave throwin them spendy baits in pike waters you get yourself some much needed bass slaying when you head up north my friend...look forward to the reports and VID when you get back... Looks like i'm not heading up until the last weekend of September. There is always something going on with the families, hard to make time for just me. I will do my best to land some slobs and have a video worthy of posting. Until then, your youtube and BR reports will haunt me.... Quote
Super User MarkH024 Posted October 4, 2013 Author Super User Posted October 4, 2013 Finally got around to slicing up what video I had of last weekend even worthy of posting. The air temp was 65-75 all weekend, with water temps in the mid 60's. The weeds in my lake had recessed dramatically since I was up last. Water was gin clear so conditions were really tough. I tried everything and only managed a few fish most of which were dinks. I got to try out the Spittin Wa frog which I commented on a thread in the tackle forum. It's a nice frog and great in the open water or sparse vegetation. I don't like it in thick veg as it flipped too much or got hung up under pads, it's not nearly as good as a Koppers or alike. The pike in the low res clip came off the Spittin Wa. The bass came off the Koppers. The last smaller pike I got was on a Siebert Outdoors swimjig in bluegill color with a hard candy Rage Craw trailer. The rest of the dinks I caught on the weekend were on various other lures. Saturday morning last weekend was opening season for duck hunting . There were 3 sets of hunters out on the portion of the lake I fish more than 75% of the time so I didn't get to hit those areas really hard. I probably would have had more fish had I been able to fish there. There were quite a bit of shots being fired mostly in the morning. Weather was really windy for the most part and a storm rolled in Saturday from 4pm to the early morning. Sundays conditions were calm bright bluebird skies. Every where on the lake I could see pretty much straight to the bottom. It was very tough overall but still better than a day in the office. Normally wouldn't bother posting results like this but I wanted to try out the new GoPro software. Here's a clip and a few pics. ***I accidentally dumped the high res file on the bigger pike shown. I'm an idiot. *** 3# 9oz My piece of heaven. (outside of duck season..lol) 2 Quote

Super User Grizzn N Bassin Posted October 15, 2013 Super User Posted October 15, 2013 I didn't know you had one of these going to! nice fish and vids!! 1 Quote
Super User MarkH024 Posted October 15, 2013 Author Super User Posted October 15, 2013 I didn't know you had one of these going to! nice fish and vids!! Thanks Griz. Haven't quite gotten out as much as I intended to this year. Had a couple horrible outings too. Hard water is approaching fast for us northerners so i'll probably only be out 1 or 2 more times before I have to winterize the boat and hang it up for the season. 1 Quote
Super User Grizzn N Bassin Posted October 16, 2013 Super User Posted October 16, 2013 don't hang it up go on the bank, put a chair down and drag a jig!!! Quote
Super User MarkH024 Posted November 6, 2013 Author Super User Posted November 6, 2013 Small report from mid October. Not much to report as it seems the bass up and left to go to Florida for the winter? I threw the kitchen sink at them and the only thing getting any attention was a Manns Minus -1 crank worked over the top of weeds and a Hudd Grass Minnow which was claimed by the pike gods. You'll see that bit in the last 5 seconds of the video. Had a few follows on the Manns from bass but nothing of great size. I probably wouldn't have even bothered with this video but I was bored so I did it anyway. I had a few other dinks in the mix. Overall a really tough weekend and not a good fall bite I was hoping for. Oh well, that's fishing. Conditions: Winds from the Northwest 10-20mph through the weekend. Rain drizzle on and off. Air temps low 50's in day, upper 30's at night producing frost. Water temp was around 52 consistently. Quote
5dollarsplash Posted November 6, 2013 Posted November 6, 2013 At least you got on the water. Woke this morning to a white substance on the ground, contacted the local authorities and it turns out it wasn't anthrax. S N O W. Tip up and beer season is coming. Quote

I have a friend from the Oshkosh area that is trying to convince me of an ice adventure but not feeling it. In any event, I feel your pain. Winter is approaching fast! Quote
5dollarsplash Posted November 6, 2013 Posted November 6, 2013 Its not something I get into too much. But when I do, I make sure I have off work the following day 1 Quote
