Hi guys, today is my first day on the forum i have tons of questions recently ive picked up fishing and loved it I have been reading for days on jigs and other lures and I'm starting to grasp some concepts but I've yet to try it, I'm in Leominster Massachusetts and I'm looking for a very specific answer on what kind of jigs I should get. I don't have a whole lot of money so if you could recommend some decent cheap ones that would be good for a starter and where I can get them id appreciate it. Also if you could recommend a couple other lure types that are good for beginners and how to use them that would be amazing, thanks guys!

Check out the links to the right siebert outdoors has tons of jigs at far prices... you fish and learn by experience every days gonna be different. Good luck, and jigs rock just thought od throw that in there.

1 - If you can get to your local StuffMart, you'll occasionally find Booyah and Strike King jigs on sale for cheap... Might be a good start.  That said, I think you'd be better served to look at Siebert Outdoors, a site sponsor.  Their jigs are very economical and the quality difference between what you'd get at the Big Box Store is huge.  I've bought at least 20 jigs from Siebert (start jig fishing this year, myself) and I couldn't be happier.

2 - Other things to try?  Soft plastic worms (GYCB Senkos, Strike King Shim-E-Sticks, or BPS Stick-os), craws (Rage Tail, Zoom Speed Craws, or others), and just about any other soft plastic fished slow.

P.s- also invest in a few rat-l-trap lures.... they work wonders some days when fish ain't biting.

Wow you guys are fast I've been using soft plastics when I go but have just been looking into lure fishing and the jig seems cool I'm also having trouble with sizing I've read a lot and there seems to be a lot of weeds to get stuck on in places I go is there any way around that?
