Today I picked up a pack of 5" Yum Money Minnows. What size hook do you guys suggests I use? :-?

I was looking at some 4/0 weighted swimbait hooks, but they looked too short. How far down the bait does the hook need to be?

Too short .......... any particular reason why you think it 's too short ? 4-5/0 hook point exit about half the length of the bait which is fine for me in my experience, in the case of short striking I can always add a trap hook.

quick question , how do you guys work these? steady retrieve? twitch/jerks?

4/0 should be good; it'll give the tail better action. Make sure you slit the belly so the hook doesnt have to go through all that plastic. I use them weightless, alot like a wake bait, with pauses every few feet, or just buzzing them. Swimming them around riprap with some weight has also been a good technique, as has been working them over and through submerged grass. It's really just a big paddle-tailed grub.

Slow rolling it straight in. Just enough to keep the tail kicking. To be honest though I've not caught a ton on them at this point. However, when I did catch fish it was on a slow steady retrieve.

with a 5inch i usually use a 3/0 its big enough to cover most of the bait but leaves it with a lot of action! 3/0 is the way to go

i love the money minnow and i use 4/0 twist lock stanley ribbet and swimbait hooks and they work good but you need to rig them straight as an arrow or else they will not run right

How can you run them weightless? If I don't use a weighted hook or swimming jig the money minnows just twist like crazy! I can get Shadalicious swimbaits to run weightless though?

Reeling them in steadily is not the only way to fish them.

5/0 Gammy superline or 1/16 oz weigthed superline hooks work great for this.

I prefer the Shadalicious in 4.5" for up here.
