BadBassWV Posted July 1, 2013 Posted July 1, 2013 Some of the fish I catch here lately have a claw in there throat that resembles this color of crawfish, should I match the hatch and try to find something in this color, If so cant seem to find any. I try throwing Jigs with craw trailers in different colors But nothing. the ones I am catching are usually on a Baby bass colored Senko Cant seem to catch anything on Craw baits. I have searched but just cant seem to find anything that would resemble this color. Quote
Blues19 Posted July 1, 2013 Posted July 1, 2013 Thats a bright craw. Get yourself some pearl white rage craws and use an orange sharpie and you can probably get a nice color that is similar while also keeping the white belly that the craw probably has Quote
Global Moderator Bluebasser86 Posted July 1, 2013 Global Moderator Posted July 1, 2013 Alabama craw in either of these baits has lots of orange. Get some methylate JJ's or an orange Spike It pen and dip the claws. If you really want to get a bright orange one that Bass Assassin comes in a bright white or clear you can color that whole top half up with that orange spike it pen. http://www.bassassassin.com/p/-Alabama-Craw-4%22-Pure-Craw-%28BANG-Lures%29/bass-fishing-lures/-4purecrawbanglure/-4%22-Pure-Craw-%28BANG-Lures%29/PCA56479/ http://www.ragetail.com/news/color-charts/rage-craw-color-selection/ Quote

Super User Crestliner2008 Posted July 3, 2013 Super User Posted July 3, 2013 Crawfish have a tendency to change color (sometimes quiet rapidly), according to their environment. A friend of mine uses live craws for drifting for smallmouth sometimes. He has a special bucket to keep them in, that is painted a dark brown inside, just because of this fact. In a white styrofoam bucket they lighten up very quickly. I think that bright orange you are seeing in the bass's throat, may actually be a little darker (maybe light brownish?), if it wasn't there, in it's throat. I do like that color that jtharris3 suggested though! The other thing is that I seriously doubt that color is a prime factor. Location and presentation are paramount. JMO. Quote
Super User bigbill Posted July 3, 2013 Super User Posted July 3, 2013 One of my number 1 crankbaits is the rebel BIG CLAW crawfish crankbait in chartreuse. Or match the color of your area. They come in most colors. Make sure you get the BIG CLAW. We use the smaller ones in rivers. www.mistertwister.com has a clearance on there's right now but I never tried them yet. They do look good color wise. Quote
