Paddle Tail And Ultravibe Worms

Do you fish the the same way you fish most ribbon tail worms, I mean I am catching them on ribbon tail T rigged worms, but when I throw the mention and fish them same way nothing.  Am i missing somthing on these worms??

I fished a ton of u-vibe worms last year.  I cast them out and if they don't pick it up on the fall then I swim it slowly back.  I feel if you work it the same way you are working a ribbon tail worm then you arent using the lure to its fullest.  The action of the tail is similar to a swimbait, so you should work it as such.

I use 3 techniques with my UV Worms

 

1 - Buzz it across the top.  If the water is slick/calm you can run it across the top.  The tail causes a nice buzzing action.  You can also complement this a stop/go retrieve and let the bait sink a bit.

 

2 - As mentioned above.  Rig weightless.  Cast it out, let it sink, Reel it back a few cranks, repeat.  So instead of lift and let drop I reel a few cranks and let it drop.  Get's the tail dancing.

 

3 - Same as #2 but weighted.  With this I do a lift and drop ... hoping to get the tail action going on the lift and again on the fall.  I use no lighter than a 1/4 oz.  

 

It's worth noting that I use a heavier gauge hook for the weightless rigs.  The worm needs some more weight IMO and this helps make that happen.

I like to rig the 10" Yum "Mitey Worm" on 6/0, 1/8 oz. weighted swimbait hook - or, if the cover is not that thick, I rig it on a 1/4 oz. football, shakey head jig. Both produce quite well.

Excellent advice. I have done this with both the Uvibes and Thumper worms after trying them like a traditional ribbon tail. Made all of the difference.

I like running a zoom paddle tail on a weighted EWG hook like crestliner said[swimbait style],or pegging/florida-screw lock bullet weight to the head..love this worm now that the grass beds are finally high enough! lotta rain this spring,lake levels are very high all over..

If it hits an open zone in the weeds,i'll kill it-..shake..-swim again..most bass seem to crush it just slow rolling it at the grass tips!

I dont really ever T-rig them,like you mentioned,i'm sure it will catch,but i treat it more like a "swim-stick" bait.

There is no wrong way to fish them, and you can mod them to no end with a pair of scissors. I like weightless T-rig. In shallow flats, you can use it as a search bait, and then pitch it back in, when they show themselves. Almost too easy.
