Getting Skunked?!??!

I am up in North Carolina and fishing at lake glenville and I have been skunked two days in a row, I know I'm not this bad at fishing and I don't even know where to begin! Has anyone fished this lake and could possibly lead me in the right direction? And by the way, I have thrown just about everything in every single color! Thanks y'all!

Are you fishing from the shore? In the summer, most bass go deep. I don't even bother from the shore anymore until it starts cooling off. Even when I'm out in the boat, I have a hard time locating fish and in general just using deep techniques.

As the weather gets warmer I try to find the first or second decent drop off from the shore and drop a texas rigged (soft plastic od your choice) and slowly bounce it on the bottom...

I've been getting skunked the past few weeks nothing of size. I did manage to hook into 2 that would have beaten my PB of 6lbs 10oz but lost em both close to shore before I could land em

Go find a creek or river to fish. It's easier to find the fish right now.

Last year in the heat I targeted weedmats with Palm Trees. Any such stuff  in your lake to give a try. Im using the same this year and its producing.

We are fishing from a boat and its my buddy's boat so he gets to pick all the spots, we were both frustrated today and we were along the shore pretty much the whole time, we going to go out deep tomorrow and hopefully catch a couple!

It's all about locating fish, and good electronics would be helpful if you and your buddy don't know the lake very well.  You will have to find the deep water routes that the fish use to reach the shallows and work your way back out to deep water from those areas.  Look for shallow pockets and coves that have breaks leading out to deeper water.  Underwater creek channels and underwater channel intersections are a good place to start.  All of us have been guilty of just fishing the shoreline at one time or another.  Those fish that tend to stay in the shallows of a busy lake have seen just about every lure.  Unless you are punching some thick mats or fishing some thick brush that other anglers bypass, the fish that stay shallow all year may not fall for what you are presenting.
