Alright, so I am looking for a crankbait rod. That could basically work the whole spectrum of cranks. Though i'm looking for something that is good with medium and deep divers around (15-20ft.) I am not spending a lot on a glass rod at the moment, so my two choices are between a rod at regular price and one that is on sell.

  Both are crankbait rods

-Powell Diesel 7' med hvy

-Daiwa Ballistic 7'2" med hvy

Which one would you choose. I was going to get the powell until i saw the good deal on the Ballistic. So give me your opinions!

Thanks,

Zach

Haven't fished either of those but i will say after i picked up my crankbait specific rod my catch rate went way up.  I have a kistler helium micro guide crank rod matched up with a 4.7:1  BPS PQ.

I have the Diesel. If it breaks tomorrow, I will have another on the way tomorrow night. Haven't used a Daiwa rod for several years.

I'm not a big Daiwa fan. What do you have to say about your diesel?

I have that daiwa it's a fantastic rod. I am not a huge daiwa fan either but I was pleasantly surprised with that rod especially for the sale price. Not sure how it would do with smaller cranks but it handles the big boys very well. I would happily recommend the daiwa rod to anyone.

It's light, has good backbone but a soft tip. I VERY seldom have one come unbuttoned on it. Casts very well and comfortable to fish. I have used everything from a square bill to a 6XD on it. It's my primary cranking stick. Like I said, if it broke, I would replace it immediately.

I do not own one, but I have read numerous positive remarks on the BPS cranking stick on other forums.

The Ballistic is better suited for heavier, larger, deeper cranks IMO. The Diesel can handle square bills to rattle baits, mid size jerk baits and cranks that weigh around 5/8 - 3/4, and dive up to 18 feet are right in it's wheel house IMO. Pretty versatile stick for being glass. Feels much lighter than the Ballistic too. If it helps any I have a Diesel cranker I'd sell ya for 50 bucks shipped. I just have to get my hands on a tube to ship it in. Rod has never been used (double).
