I hate when the guy fishing holds up a 2 pounder at full arm's length, making it look twice the size. Dave mercer is particularly guilty of this.

Glad it doesn't happen on Bass resource.

I cringe when a pro throws $300+ rod&reel setup in the water.. I have seen Ike do it several times

I hate when the host of the show is not even decent at fishing and they are there because they know how to be on camera. Example: JP de rose, tim horton etc etc.

When will anyone be smart enough to give a show to a guy like brent ehler or shaw grisby. these guys are so likeable and very smart and they dont have a show.

shaw grigsby does have a show....is called "one more cast with shaw grigsby"

I have to disagree on putting Tim Horton in that group. His shows are always filled with tips and techniques and he makes it easy to understand. Also, if he wasn't decent at fishing how would he have won AOY?

I can't stand the way they edit out all the fishing mishaps and problems that occur while fishing.  They make everything look like all you have to do is drop your bait in the water and you will catch fish.  Just once I would like to see someone hang up or have a reel break on them.

Mark zona has an entire segment of his show called train wrecks dedicated 2 showing his screw-ups.

13 years ago? it seems to me like he hasnt adjusted to the times. he names his weakness as low weight tournament, meaning when the bite is tough I stink. I dont mean to say he is completely terrible, Im just saying he is not an elite angler and by elite I mean part of that top 25 fishermen that consistently get in the top of their leagues. I also believe that there are a lot of people more capable than him with better capabilities/technique but they probably arent great on camera or they dont want to constantly be on camera. I can also understand that the tv show could be cutting his practice and research time for the elite series making his performance suffer.

JP de rose is an awful tournament fisherman. His new show is a little better, his old one was completely a plug to their sponsors.

Dave mercer is also another guy that hasnt accomplished anything as an angler. His show is also a big plug for shimano, livetarget and a couple other brands.

Scott martin is awesome but his show is more about competing and bragging. I like when he is not in Florida. Its just the way the program runs is not that great.

If Ike wasnt constantly plugging his sponsors he could make a great show. Also believe someone like Ehler would make the best kind of show and he is a top 5 angler in my opinion.

I did some shows for a few years, it's hard work. After long stretches of no fish, camera man sits down, then I'd hook up. LOL, he missed the best action.

Actually, we did some great shows and lots of big fish. That was when studio equipment was on mainframes. It was very expensive. It is much less now, other than the travel.

So, I think many of the shows are OK, but I get bored watching. That is the issue, it's hard to build a story line or drama when you depend upon a pea-sized-brained critter as your subject.

Th only tips I have got from Tim Horton is to sharpen my trolling motor blade- useless, and to sharpen the bills of my crankbaits- not too important....

He doesn't give tips about catching fish

I don't hate any fishing shows (except Charlie Moore), they all serve a purpose. Roland Martins job is to name drop and hock products, and he does it. That being said, I only watch shows I like, very few don't try to sell you something, but if you can sell, teach AND entertain me, I'll watch. The shows on my DVR are: Zona's AFS, Mercers "Facts of Fishing", The Bass Pro's, Lindners Angling edge, Hook and Look, Strike King Pro Team Journal, Bassmaster, PAA, and FLW tournament shows, Scott Martin challenge, and In-fisherman. If I am vegging out and flipping channels, I will watch Roland Martin, Bill Dance, Shaw Grigsby, Jimmy Houston and Hank Parker if they are on just for old times sake. I avoid Fishing university, Charlie Moore, and anything salt water related as I just have no interest.

Charlie Moore catches a few fish or none cause he doesn't know what he's doing, then he eats food at a expensive restaurant , smokes a expensive cigar and drinks fancy wine... How is it even a tv show??

You mean you can't hunt and shoot things from a vehicle.  Why not?  That always struck me as kind of like trolling, and trolling is legal, right?
