Reel Dilemma

On my last post I was stuck between 2 feels and my buddy end up giving me a deal on a revo s and a decent rod so I went with that. No complaints as of yet smooth and casts a country mile .

I sold one of my combos and need to get another one started for an all around application . The same guy has 2 reels for me

Mint Gen 2 Revo Premier -150

Brand new 200E7-180

I'm thinkin the e7 because its ridiculously smooth and I've tried one of his other ones and I love it but that's a good deal I think on the premier. More than likely paired with a MH rod don't know the make yet but for all around versatility other than flipping and pitching..any advice ?

It's just splitting hairs with these two. They are both excellent reels.

I have a second gen Premier, and for $150 I don't think it can be beat. Just my humble opinion, but I'd take the Premier every time. Plus, you're already used to an Abu, so it's not going to be a transition. I've thrown both Shimano and Abu side by side, and I personally prefer the Abu brake system. I can throw farther with less effort, and it's more dynamic. Again, just my personal opinion.

Yea by no means am I the most experienced with a baitcaster and as soon as I bought the combo we went to a pond and it was like butter. Even caught a decent 1.5lber off a brush pile:)

Two or three years ago many were claiming the Gen 2 Premier was the best all-around reel out there....anywhere in its price range or even above.

 

Personally I would buy both. 

 

EDIT: I feel the Premier is the better deal money wise.  BUT another such deal will come again.  A new 200E7 most likely won't.

x2 this...I don't have any experience with the Abu reel, but I find my Shimanos get better with age.

No experience with the premier but FWIW I would go with the curado. Honestly though that isnt a great deal on it. Especially considering you can get the chronarch for that price brand new on sale. However, I would take a used curado e7 serviced and upgraded professionally over both and you'll have roughly the same invested.

Both are good reels when comparing an E7 to a Gen 2 premier. Both have strong followings. The die hard Abu guys regard the Gen 2 premier as one of the best if not the best all around Revo made. The E series reels also have a good following and have been great performing reels. Neither has had many complaints or problems that are widespread.

Can't really go wrong with either... maybe see if the seller would let you take each for a test drive before you pull the trigger?
