CountBassula Posted June 26, 2013 Posted June 26, 2013 Hi Gang! So it's been getting hot down here in S.FL. lately and I've noticed that all my big bass are gone from all my sweet spots! What's up with that?!? Places that produced 4,5,6,7 lbs fish now produce nothing but 1-2lbs smallies! Is this the weather doing this and will things improve once the water temps drop some? Now, the snakeheads around here are only getting BIGGER!!! M. Quote

I am basically done bass fishing for the month of June. I know I fell over 20 inches short to compete but I am content I was able to produce something this month. Fortunately, I was invited to do some offshore mutton fishing so June may not be all that bad. Enjoy fishing for snakeheads because bass fishing is going to get slower. Good luck. 1 Quote

I got into bass fishing in October-November of last year, and this is my first summer doing it. When do things pick up again? When do the big ones return? I can still fish for bass and catch them, but they will all be juveniles... M. Quote

With out a boat south Florida summer fishing gets a bit harder, best bet is to start asking around or looking for peacocks.... Hoter it is beter the action gets with peas. Side note had a good run this morning in the Everglades just short of an average of 40 fish per hour, with the biggest little over 5 pounds.As for snakeheads thay get even more so aggressive In the summer months as to why you'll tend to see less bass on the banks. Super User MCS Posted June 27, 2013 Super User Posted June 27, 2013 Go really big or really small with bait size, go super slow on the retrieve and usually deepest part of you water body, shaded areas, culverts. This time of year you have 2 choices as far as targeting bass goes, lots of small ones or a bigger fish or two. Quote
Super User AK-Jax86 Posted June 27, 2013 Super User Posted June 27, 2013 Yea man it's been really slow lately here in Jacksonville. I see big ones at my spots but I can't even get a bite. What was weird is that last year this time I was only catching big ones and the past few weeks I haven't been able to get any nice size ones and have not been putting up the numbers that I was earlier, big or not. I haven't really fished out my backyard, which last year I flooded this site with pics of big ones. Every time I go I catch nothing or small fish smaller than the actually bait I am using. Hopefully the big ones show up out back because so far this season I have only seen 3 swimming around and only caught 1 just under 3lbs Quote

I assume you mean small largemouth because there are no smallies (smallmouth bass) in Florida. Quote

Of course the fish are still there, especially in a landocked pond, but that doesn't mean you're going to nail a larger one on each outing. Catching a larger one now is a matter of good fortune, being as the bigger bass just beat the smaller one to the lure on that particular cast. Quote
