I feel like scaring the hell out of myself again. So time for my annual paranormal thread. Let's here about some of the weird, freaky, unexplained happenings y'all have experienced. No martian, or UFO, or alien stuff. There's already a thread for that. I'll start.

Back at my in laws old house. My wife, sister in law, and her mom got into an enormous fight one morning. I mean a dang MASSIVE FIGHT! Anyway, they are in my wife's room screaming at each other. I could here it from outside at the street. Well mid scream the fricking TV in her room cuts on and goes straight to static. My mother in law hits the power button and nothing happened. She goes to pull the plug from the wall, and the cord and plug are already laying at her feet unplugged. The whole house goes silent. After about 20 seconds the TV shuts off. All three of them came flying out the front door of the house. Still in there night clothes.

She moved in with me two weeks later. I never set foot back in that house after dark after that happened.

Not really paranormal but for a while every night i would wake up about a half hour after falling asleep and would see someone in my room looking down on me. I could never see a face or anything just a shadow. But I would wake up just screaming. I actually had to move my pistol away from my bed because i pulled it multiple times on this thing. It was creepy, i read on the internet that it happens to a lot of people. Its a sleep condition where your dreaming but wake up and your mind still is in dream world. It hasnt happened in a couple months. It was so creepy though that i dreaded going to bed.

By the way in the short time ive been here ive come to love this site. Not just because of the fishing advice but because of great threads like this!

I can assure you it was never cool. It was terrifying. I honestly thought i was being tormented by demons until i looked it up online. Still though i slept with a cross necklace on just for insurance purposes.

Also not sure if paranormal but when i was working my first job back in highschool i worked maintenance at a church. One night working alone probably around 11pm, i started hearing what sounded like doors opening and closing in the childrens classroom sections. I always locked all the doors when no one was in it so this shook me up. I stopped what i was doing walked back to see if anyone was there and everything was all locked up. So I set the alarm, and went home.  The next day i got a call from my boss (older female) asking why everything was left out. I told her what i heard and that i dont mess around with ghosts. She laughed at me, but thats one thing i wont chance. This was after i was there at 2 am and someone leaving late didnt close the door all the way so it didnt lock and a bum wandered in. I escorted him out, so she couldnt understand how i could do that by myself but not handle a "noise"

Yeah I would have left too. Least you set the alarm. I wouldn't have even gone that much. As for the bum and her laughing about it. A 9mm will drop a bum. It ain't gonna do nothing against a spirit.

I can understand you feeling terrorized by the sleep thing. Thats some heavy stuff Brother. I would have been wearing a cross, had the Holy Water by my bed and everything. Ghost are one thing. Demonic stuff though. Ungh uh. If you don't mind my asking. Did it only happen at your house, or was it every where you went?

Of course I'm sitting in the dark smoking a CIG out front while reading this. I swear it just sent a chill up my spine.

Only at my house. Of course though I don't think I slept anywhere else during the time. It was like clock work though. It felt like a bolt of lightening went through me. Id sit up immediately and always be staring at it. And if I happened to be staying up late that night, and it was anywhere near 3 am id stay up til 4 just to be safe before going to bed. iM sure it was just a sleep disorder though, or at least thats what I like to believe.

As far as smoking outside. Im surrounded by woods. And when I smoked I would step out on my deck and hear some crazy noises at night.

I've had quite a few experiences.  About 6 years ago, I moved into my girlfriend's (now my wife) house.  Shortly after I moved in, some weird stuff started happening.  Not really scary and it never felt threatening or anything like that.  Just kind of weird.

It's possible this one wasn't paranormal.  We were laying in bed watching TV and getting ready to go to sleep when the TV just randomly turned off by itself.  The remote was on the nightstand so it's not like we leaned on it or something.  The TV did have a sleep function but a 30 second timer would always pop up if it was gonna turn off and this time it didn't.  It really took us by surprise.  I don't think I ever moved as fast as I did to jump up and grab the pull string on the light.

One time my wife was in the bedroom putting clothes away when she heard someone calling one of our dog's names.  I wasn't there but she said the dog's ears pricked up and he got a confused look on his face.  She even looked out the window to see if maybe there was someone outside who she could have overheard but there was no one there.  She said the voice sounded both distant but in the room with her at the same time.

Another time we were in bed and I was giving her a back rub when I felt something pinch my big toe.  Felt like someone grabbed my big toe with their thumb and index figure and gave it a little squeeze.  I turned to her and said 'what are you pinching me for'.  She looks at me like I'm nuts and says 'what are you talking about?'  That's when I realized she was laying on her hands and they were nowhere near my feet.  Weird...

Then there was the time we were both in the kitchen getting ready to eat dinner.  We were both standing at the counter making our plates when we heard footsteps coming up the basement stairs.  There was no one down there but, clear as day, it sounded like someone was coming up the steps.  The top step would always make a very distinct sound and we definitely heard it.  We both looked at each other and then looked at the basement door cuz we could swear it was gonna open.  It didn't but if it had, I wouldn't have been surprised.

Another time I was in the basement by myself watching TV.  I got up, got a popsicle out of our big chest-style freezer in the back of the basement (there's a wall that separating the front/back), and sat back down.  A couple minutes later I heard a sound like something falling over or being dropped so I got up to see what it was.  Her son had a carved wooden Thompson Submachine Gun that his grandfather made for him and somehow it was sitting on top of the freezer.  I was just in that freezer.  I had just closed the lid and I'm quite certain that the toy gun wasn't there when I walked back to the front of the basement.  I even picked it up and dropped it a couple times.  Made the exact same sound.  I just sort of chuckled and went back to watching TV.

My wife told me nothing like that ever happened until I moved in.  Who knows?  Maybe some ghost didn't like another man being in the house.  Like I said, nothing terrifying.  Just some weird occurrences that I can't seem to explain.

I know guys that will go toe to toe with an MMA fighter any day of the week, but wont go into one of the buildings on campus because of foot steps in the attic. He pours out in sweat when talking about it. We actually went in with the Lt and Dispatch one night and I checked out at that buidling. I started running in place and got my vitals up. Called out to dispatch that I needed help fast and didn't say another word. Everyone else was in on it too. They were all parked out back blacked out. Took the poor guy 5 minutes to get there and he never would go in. Kept yelling for me to answer him. Scared him so bad he took a couple days off. We came over with beer and pizza after work. Told him we were messing with him and he still will hardly speak about it without breaking out in sweat. This is one big sum buck I've seen in action too.

I had one when I was a little kid, but I will post this one because I don't want to freak myself out, and be jumpy all day.

There use to be a radio show here in town, and every halloween they would broadcast from a real haunted house.  One year there was a loud banging coming over the radio, and the station cut to a commercial.  When they came back from the commercial the host of the show was saying that the station was picking up what sounded like a grandfather clock in the background and that they should move away from it from the rest of the show.  The host then went on to say that the people that were actually broadcasting from the haunted house had not heard a thing.  Right after that about two dozen people called in to say that they had heard the clock.

Walking the unpopulated parts of the jail by myself at 2am I've heard all kinds of crazy crap.

Worst one happened to a guy I worked with. He was working in the medical pod where sick and really old inmates are housed away from GP for their safety. This place obviously has big, heavy steel doors and it was an older style lock that "pops" when it's open. I've seen some huge guys mule kick them as hard as they can and I've never seen one even start to open. To operate the doors there is a key that has to be in the panel and turned on and you just push the button for the cell door. Cell 2 in this pod was already a little infamous because an inmate had successfully hung himself a couple years prior and then 2 weeks before the oldest inmate in the jail had died in the cell.

So this guy was sitting in there by himself (it was also the only pod with no windows to the outside so it was kind of like working in a cave). At about 2am he gets up to start his welfare check. This is important because we he does that he takes the keys with him like he's supposed to, so his panel is turned off. Shortly after he gets up cell 2's door not only pops but jumped open quickly, not fully open but enough for somebody to have slipped through if they'd turned sideways. It would have taken a ton of force to open one of those heavy doors that quickly (watched the video on the camera afterwards) and there is no way the door should have even been able to be opened with no key in the panel. He was so freaked out he called for a sergeant to be relieved and refused to work the pod again. Only things we could think of would be a big rush of air (not sure where it would have come from with no windows, vents maybe?) or maybe there was a power surge in that cell for some reason that caused the lock to pop and blew the door open. Either way, it was creepy to watch.

I've had a few scary ones. My family lives in a 120 year old house on 4 acres. The property had a school house on it for many decades before the house was built. The Schoolhouse was relocated to a tourist village in south jersey.

After moving in we were having a BBQ with about 50 guests. Four guests that did not know eachother and had arrived at different times asked who the little girl standing in the bay window was. There were no children at the house at any time. Several people have also claimed to have seen a pale man standing in the attic window. I've been in the house when door slam shut with no windows open, it just happened this past Sunday.

I live in a separate apartment on the property so it never bothered me. That is until one night while watching TV in my room. A cross I had hanging above my bed came apart and hung there upside down. When I took it down to look at it, the nail holding the cross sections had somehow come out as if someone pulled it apart. I had a hard time sleeping for a while after that.

This triggered a memory i had as a kid. Growing up i lived in an old farm house around the same age as yours (100+). Thankfully i never saw any ghosts or anything. The moon would shine into my room and i always thought there was a ghost on the wall but obviously i was very young and dumb. Although one time (it was at night) i was in my room watching tv when everything shut off. I bolted down stairs where the lights were still on. I asked my parents if the power had went out down there and they said no. They walked back up to my room with me and turned everything back on. Needless to say i was still freaked out.

The scariest thing happened to me yesterday ... I go to reel in a fish and find there is nothing there.  No worm, no fish ...   :eyebrows:

I have to blame it on something ...  :laugh5:

how come people can take this and a ufo thread seriously but not a sasquatch/bigfoot thread?

Cause sasquatch/bigfoot doesn't exist. Sheesh. Everyone knows that. :)

Back on high school my tagging crew and myself were creeping around an old insane asylum. We were wandering around the basement and heard a phone ringing. We headed upstairs and located the phone. Upon looking at it there was no phone line or power connected to it. We also heard doors opening and closing. Metal doors slamming. As well as just random noises that were freaky.

I was taking a shower and all of a sudden the water got blistering hot. I jumped forward and turned around, the handle was turned to the hottest it could go. I adjusted the handle and peeked my head out of the shower and didn't see anything... Scared me good!!!

Alexandria Libraries had their main library at the Kate Waller Barrett Branch on Queen Street in the City of Alexandria, Virginia.

The custodians always complained about noise after dark and things moving when they were in the library cleaning up at night. Some left the building in the middle of their work and others refused to go back into the building.

In fact, some of the custodians would not go down into the boiler room as they said "funny things and sounds" were coming from that room.

One day when visiting with the library staff I went down into the boiler room, found it to be extremely cold and got a bad "feeling" about the palce, ran out and shut the door. Never been back.

In 1996 there was a total renovation of the facility. During the digging up of the front yard a grave was discovered. And then another.

Old City records were found (Alexandria does not throw anything away) showing that the libarary was built over an Indian cemetery. And no one knew this since the original building dated back to the early 1900s and was given to the library system in the 50's.

The current tribal chief was found and he agreed to allow the graves to be moved to another site.

I have no idea why that boiler room was so cold and damp but it gave me the willies and I could understand why the custodians either fled the building or did not return to work. We now know why there were funny things going on in the building.

Since the graves were moved there have been no problems in the builidng after sunset.

Reminds me of a song that goes, "it a road that you paved over Indian graves and you wondered why your dreams are crazed."
