Looking for some spots to do some bass fishing in Jacksonville fl.  Im in the orange park, oakleaf, argle area if you guys could give me any good tips on some ponds or anything over there.  Also anyone have a word on how black creek is.  Like in the area where Henley road crosses over??  Im from up north so i used to do a lot of stream and small river fishing up there and that area caught my eye.

Cheswick oak follow back to spencers plantation off Argyle forest. Turn left there will be a big pond to the right(behind condos/apts) and further down a small on to the left. They are the ponds in there from before the houses use google earth to locate and then run a timeline you will see. The smallest has the biggest the biggest has some good size fish. I personally never fished it but this was passed to me by a buddy that moved away from the area and lived near there. It is too far for me to worry about traveling to. There is street and visitor parking. Good luck

Edit....Most the ponds around there have fish,

Also the big pond on Wells road, coming from Roosevelt on  that first exit off 295 from the buckman. it will be past a couple turns and to the left. Plenty of cover and culverts to toss creatures or a senko at I hear.

Go to the Harley Davidson store on wells road and makes right, you can park by the golf store. There is a huge pond with multiple double digit bass in there. I saw a 10 swimming around in there as well as some other big fish. I caught a 5lb out of there a month ago. My friend who works at Dicks Sporting Goods told me about the spot an showed me 2 10lb fish he caught out of there.

Yea there are some biggens in there.

Remember a while back we were talking about those two ponds that are across from the poker room on race track. I went to one the one closest to Phillips and was able to fish between a gap. I only stayed for half hour got there at 8:15p and pulled in 4 nice ones biggest was 18". I am going back there tomorrow morning around 5:30 see if I can land the big bite

Yeah I know, but it is real tough to get in there. That is the one spot I could see using casting gear with a high test braid, as well as bug spray, snake boots and brush chaps to keep the thorns off. Props to you Jersey boy venturing out into that mess LOL j/k My main reason I don't fish them is I don't have the right gear to haul them in, but the time or two I fished there I saw some nasty top water hits from big fish.

Yea jersey boy ventured into that with some basketball shorts and nikes and my pole lol. I only fished out of that one clear spot.

The second lake looks like there is an opening, only saw it from the road I am going to check it out tonight.

I have had the most luck using 6" senkos and 10.5" Yum Mightee Worms (this bait is my big bass bait I have never caught anything under 3lbs using this. Sucks because no store that I have found yet sells them so I have to get em online, I am waiting on my shipment to get here).

I also had luck using shallow diving crank baits, spinner baits, storm swimming shad the bigger ones (my girl uses them I don't), and KVD rodent using a 1/2 oz weight.

Seems like if you need to catch a fish then just throw on a senko, for whatever reason I NEVER catch any on anything less than a 6" senko. I have a few bags of 5" and absolutely nothing I guess that extra inch makes a difference I have no idea why

Strike Zone on Beach blvd sells the mightee worms. They also sell bitters and I will tell you 2 packs for 5 bucks you never buy senko or dingers again. Then u get on their mailing list for tent sales too.

Weeds are getting big now and topwater depending on pond can be pretty slow. Weightless worms/flukes close to shore, big worms Texas rigged casting further out. Creatures baits to cover. everything fished slow. It is a tougher time of year. Hang in there come sept, oct and nov you will have a lot more action as they fatten up for winter and cooler temps. Weeds will also thin out during the winter it because of water level drop and colder temps.

I checked out their website and they don't have the Mightee worms on there but I am gonna call the store when they open and hopefully they carry the 10.5" ones.

They had the last time I was there 10.5 in the watermelon/red and junebug. They don't keep the website up to date that much and only put a small amount of what they have in store

Unfortunately the lady said that they only carry yum minnows and no worms. I am gonna take a trip up there this weekend to see what they have, I didn't even know about this shop... Thanks MCS for always trying to lend a helping hand

Does anyone know anything about the pond down oakleaf plantation pkwy its on the west side of the lake behind a bunch or trees looks like one main way to get the water from the main road.  I have seen people parked there or coming up with float tubes but haven't stopped to ask any questions. anyone know if its a good pond??
