Shimano Core Weight Difference

Core 50mg weighs 5.5oz

Core 100mg weighs 6.1oz

Core 100mg7 weighs 6.7oz

I understand the 50 series spool and frame is smaller but that is still a big weight difference. What I'm really wondering is why the 100 vs 100mg7 is such a big difference too.

The chronarch e50 is only .4 lighter than the e100. Thoughts?

I think the 100MG has aluminum gears VS brass on the 100MG7.

100MG has smaller knobs too.
