georgeyew Posted June 24, 2013 Posted June 24, 2013 On Saturday, we went out to a local pond in Chantilly VA to do some bass fishing. I didn't really plan on doing any catfishing, but I had a couple of hotdogs with me so I decided to put it on the spare UL rod (6 lb line) that I had in the car. I had it in a rod holder with a bell attached while I walked along the bank for bass. You should have seen me sprint toward my rod when I heard that bell ringing. The catfish bent the rod completely over. I was very careful playing it fish on such light gear, but eventually I was able to pull it to the bank. I am just glad it was open water without any trees to snag the line. Only got one other bass, but the catfish made my day!! Quote
Global Moderator Bluebasser86 Posted June 25, 2013 Global Moderator Posted June 25, 2013 That's a fun fight on UL gear. You got lucky that it didn't just rub through your line with it's rough tooth pads with line that light Quote
