OhioBassNewcomer Posted June 23, 2013 Posted June 23, 2013 I have been using mine for about two weeks and haven't had any issues but I have been seeing a lot of people complaining about them breaking a lot. So I wanted to know if anyone else that has recently used these have had a problem or is it just a problem with the older versions? Quote
Fireguyfrank58 Posted June 23, 2013 Posted June 23, 2013 I bought one on sale from Academy about 3 weeks ago. I have caught several fish in the 3-4 range on #50 PP and ripped over rocks and limbs. Absolutely zero complaints, I love the feel and how sensitive the rod is for the price range. I have hit the tip on my 8' ceiling way too many times for my comfort but everything looks good. I'm gonna pick up a *** this week so I will be able to do a comparison. Quote
The Guy Posted June 23, 2013 Posted June 23, 2013 I've had mine for 3 years with no issues. It is used heavily and I have caught multiple fish over 8lbs with it. There is some wear on the foam handles but nothing excessive. Quote
Super User smalljaw67 Posted June 23, 2013 Super User Posted June 23, 2013 You are hearing bad because of the sheer amount of them that sold, the same thing for the first generation of Vendetta rods. There is nothing wrong with the "V" series of rods and the Veritas is one of the best selling rods for Abu Garcia. What you are seeing is the breakage issues as some will get bad blanks and it is just because of the sheer number they sell because you get a pretty decent rod for the price point so if you haven't had any problems after you caught some fish and got snagged a few times then chances are you will be fine, most problems with a blank will show up quickly. Flukeman Posted June 23, 2013 Posted June 23, 2013 My buddy has 4 of them from several years ago paired with his new Revos and absolutely loves his set ups. He does not have the micro guides. It gets too cold up here during the fall smallmouth bonanza to be bothered with micro guides icing up. You need to remember that the people on these forums are a very small sample size of the total number of people who use these products. There are so many variables from care, maintenance, where you bought your product, or how it was shipped that can effect problems with products. And to be honest a lot of times we don't even realize we did something to cause the problems. The other side is there is always going to be some poor designs or deffects in mass production. Just deal with companies with exceptional customer service. I would not hesitate to buy one of these rods after using my buddies, but then not only would I have to listen to him say how great they are everytime I fish with him. I would then have to listen to him say "I told you you should have gotten one sooner". I fish with him too much for that! Quote
OhioBassNewcomer Posted June 24, 2013 Author Posted June 24, 2013 Yeah I love the sensitivity and how light it is, its perfect with my revo s baitcaster reel. Like you said frank I have banged it a couple of times on my ceiling but nothing wrong with it. At least I have a two year warranty on all of my equipment so even if I break it they will replace it. That is very true I never thought about it but I guess since they are so popular they do have to make a ton of them. Thanks for bringing that up. Quote
CTGalloway21 Posted June 24, 2013 Posted June 24, 2013 I broke 3 Vendettas in about 2 weeks. I have some Vendetta 2s that are better. I think the original runs of Vendettas and Veritas had some quality issues dealing with breaking but I think they have worked out the kinks. 1 Quote
Dramer77 Posted June 24, 2013 Posted June 24, 2013 yea they fixed some of the issues with the original ones.... i just picked up the new villain micro rod, d**n that thing is sweet Quote
Super User lmbfisherman Posted June 24, 2013 Super User Posted June 24, 2013 I have one, I've had for a year now. Solid rod, never had an issue with it, other than it being stiffer than the power states. It is currently one of my favorite rods, haven't used it lately though as I've been testing out my newer equipment this year. Once I start going out on the water (small boat/canoe) it will see more action. The MH/F 7'3 I have serves as my multipurpose backup. Need another frog rod? check, need another Pitching/flipping (light cover) check, jig/worm? check, spinnerbait? check! ..etc. Quote
fstr385 Posted June 24, 2013 Posted June 24, 2013 I have a broken vengance and vendetta. One was replaced already, so thats 3 that ive broken. The 2 mh and h rods I have left 7' and 7-6 have made it so far. I broke my 6-6 the other day on 2 eyelets, not even just the tip on a fish no bigger than 2lbs! Bps replaced the first one no questions asked, but idk if theyll do 2 more, and pushing it even more, get a credit toward something better. I got em bc they seemed nice for 50-80 bucks, but if theyre just goin to keep breaking..... As far as the veritas go though, idk. Quote
OhioBassNewcomer Posted June 25, 2013 Author Posted June 25, 2013 For the same price(around $100) which rods do you like the most? Anyone tried the Omens, Carbonlites, St. Croix, Lews, Kistler? Quote
hooah212002 Posted June 25, 2013 Posted June 25, 2013 I got one last year on clearance at Dicks, but I doubt I would pay full price for one since there are ***'s or Powell's at that price point. That said, it is light and sensitive. I don't regret paying $45 for it. Quote
OhioBassNewcomer Posted June 25, 2013 Author Posted June 25, 2013 Yeah I like my Veritas but when I get my next set up I will probably try out the omens or lews. Quote
Fireguyfrank58 Posted June 25, 2013 Posted June 25, 2013 Ohio, I'm about to but a *** on Friday. I'm gonna go with a 7'3 Mh caster just like my Veritas so ill have a good comparison in about a week. Quote
OhioBassNewcomer Posted June 25, 2013 Author Posted June 25, 2013 That's great Frank, which series *** are you getting? Let me know which one feels better, more sensitive, more backbone. Quote
