You all have to know that classic Yamamoto commercial. Well ... I had one of those moments yesterday and it made me laugh all the way home.

Kid saw me catching fish and came up to me with a "Hey mister, whatcha throwing ..."

I explained what I was doing and even gave him the rest of my pack. It took all of my might not to recreate that commercial verbatim. Lol.

Have you ever had to channel your inner Roland Martin?

Just looked that up on youtube. Pretty funny. :) I remember the time a guy fishing gave me a few senkos. I caught a 3 pounder on the first cast with one, hooked me on fishing for life. I can't wait until I have the money to pay stuff like that back.

I help everyone when I'm fishing were it crowded when they see me pull in bass after bass. It's funny I'm a field salesman for fishing equipment too. The next day all these guys show up with new rods, reels, tackle boxes, plus lures too. I build up there s confidence yo a whole new level. Then along side me there catching fish too.

One guy walked over and said do those lures work? (Bomber crankbait) As I casted out and nailed a 3Lb bass right away before I could answer him. Then he asks me what's that spray I was using?(scents) Again before I could tell him I nailed another bass.

caught another nice bass. He said I guess all this stuff works.

I did notice with senko and bps stik o worms I use them first with no scents then if I get a strike and a miss one shot of scent means a positive hook up on the next cast. They seem to hold it a tad longer.

I use both the senko and the bps stick o worms. The stik o worms seem to last longer. Both seem to be equal in landing fish.

I didn't give a kid any baits, but I did hand off an old ultralite rod to kid that was fishing off the side of a river about three years ago. He was out there fishing and his bigger brother was playing around nearby. The older brother was being loud and obnoxious, and even threw a couple rocks at me in the boat as I passed by. The younger brother had his little rod, a bucket, and his worms, just fishing away.

After about an hour I came back by, and seen that his rod was gone, and he was fishing with just line and a bobber. He had one fish in his bucket and he looked pretty upset. I watched him yank at a fish with the line, it came off right at shore. I asked him what happened to your fishing rod? He replied that his brother was being mean and broke it after he caught this fish, and that his dad gave him a woopin'. I said, "Well, he wont be doing that again will he?" And I heard his dad yell from the back porch of the house, "He sure won't!"

I kind of laughed, and looked forward and seen that little ultralite. I hadn't used it in a couple years since I had bought a new one, so I went and beached up a little ways passed him and jumped up on the deck with that rod. Put it together real quick, and said "Here ya go buddy." He lit up and came running so fast I thought he was gonna jump in the boat. He grabbed it and kept yelling thank you while he was running up to the porch to show his dad. His dad said thanks as well and waved to me.

It made me feel pretty good, but the best thing about it was last season when I was going down the same channel, I seen that little boy out there again fishing with the same combo I gave him. I was in a different boat so I don't think he recognized me, but he still looked as happy as could be out there fishing.

chrisAW,

that's a great story.  if all of us tried to do things like that once in a while,  this world would be a little better place.

i have a similar story.  i used to be a huge wakeboarder (don't hate me, i still like it).  i visited the "wake world.com" forums quite a bit.  one day this college kid posted how someone stole his board & bindings and he didn't have the money to replace it, so i sent him one of mine from the previous year.  i had the wakeboarding version of the "bait monkey" back then, too.  he couldn't believe it!  it made me feel awesome to be able to help someone like that.
