Tips For A Noob Fishing Lake Bomoseen, Vt

Me and a fee buddies will be fishing at lake Bomoseen in a few weeks with a boat and was wondering if anyone has any tips/suggestions ranging from location, live/artifical, etc. thanks

I've always had great luck at Bomoseen... Very clear water, thanks to the zebra mussels.  So, bring your clear water colors if you're a big believer in color rules.

 

Mostly caught smallies in the cooler, southern section of the lake.  Jigs, Ikas, and other craw plastics have been my best producers.  Largies in the warmer, weedier north end (up to and past the bridge) on much the same, though the bite has always seemed slower.

 

Toothy critters south on cranks/spinners.

As Heavy said bring your clear water stuff.  I did very well there with a shakey head and trick worm.

It's a clearwater lake and with the messed up weather we've had up here, the fish could be a bit picky.  Try some Fat Ika's or Keitech Salty Core tubes.

The floating bridge is good in the spring. Not so much in the summer when it becomes super weed choked. It is pretty shallow too. There is plenty of better spots on the main lake for summer fishing. I would fish the milfoil. Jigs, senkos, drop shot. I fished there about a week or so ago. We caught fish in relative shallow water on the main lake, less then 10 ft. We also caught some in over 25 feet.

Thanks for the heads up. How was the size? Im all the way down on the opposite side of the lake so maybe ill skip the bridge if its not worh it

I was just up there for the first time July 3rd-5th. I was doing pretty well using a Zoom watermelon lizard with black flake and a 3/16 oz. bullet weight. Did even better with a Zoom junebug lizard with the same weight. The bass seemed to be in 15-20 ft of water outside of the weed line. Weather varies from sunny to overcast.

Fish size was good based on what I am used to, I was on the lake for about 12 hours total across the three days and brought in 18 bass 1ft or bigger. 5 or so we 14-15", 3 15-16" and the biggest (that day and my biggest bass ever!) was an 18.5" largemouth that was 3.5-4lbs. Only one was a smally and it was just over 15".

I didn't have any luck with spinners, cranks or top water but that may have just been me. All were caught from a kayak.
