Ken Blevins Posted June 21, 2013 Posted June 21, 2013 i have just bought my first i phone 5. Now I would like to add a good fishing app that would allow for fish photo, type of fish, weight, how deep, temp, wind direction, type of bait, GPS location, line weight [braid or mono], lure type and so on...... I'm not interested in games .. Any suggestions?? Thanks for your time Ken "so much to learn, so little time" Quote
Super User Bankbeater Posted June 21, 2013 Super User Posted June 21, 2013 I have an excel spread sheet on the home computer. I use the voice recorder on the phone to make a note of all that stuff you listed above. When I get home I just fill in the blanks on the spreadsheet. Quote

hooah212002 Posted June 21, 2013 Posted June 21, 2013 Doesn't fishidy do most of that? I've not tried it myself. http://www.fishidy.com/fishing-mobile-app Quote

You can record gps locations and will automatically load temp and weather information. You can take pictures and record rig, lure, line, etc for what you used. Pretty cool app. Quote
Silas Posted June 21, 2013 Posted June 21, 2013 the free App, CATCHBOOK does all of that. I like that I can get a map of all the places that I have caught fish......also time, date, lure, weight, notes. Quote
moguy1973 Posted June 21, 2013 Posted June 21, 2013 I have an excel spread sheet on the home computer. I use the voice recorder on the phone to make a note of all that stuff you listed above. When I get home I just fill in the blanks on the spreadsheet. This is what I do. Although I use Google Drive. Out of all the apps I looked through, a simple spreadsheet that I made up works best because I can put in the fields I want without having to leave fields blank that apps had in them that I really didn't care about having to record. My spread sheet even adds up the total weight of fish that I've caught (in lbs. and oz. no less ) You won't want to be fumbling through your phone app entering data when a strong bite is on. Quote
zwhiten12 Posted June 23, 2013 Posted June 23, 2013 I just got an iPhone today so this thread really helped!! Quote
Bk4 Posted June 23, 2013 Posted June 23, 2013 "Knot wars" tips on tying knot and knot going against each other. Pretty cool app. 1 Quote
bass1980 Posted June 23, 2013 Posted June 23, 2013 Try Navionics. It's $10 but to me if your serious its worth it. Even if you have hi tech electronics on the boat you can always study the lakes during your off time. For me its when I'm at work Quote
Super User SirSnookalot Posted June 23, 2013 Super User Posted June 23, 2013 IMO knots should be perfected before fishing. I don't log anything but if I did it would be a simple spreadsheet on my home PC. We are always going to catch small fish, I don't think to worthwhile to take the time away from fishing to use a fishing app on a smartphone for them. For the really nice fish, having preset your phone to record your location (gps) is done just by snapping the photo. If you can't remember lures, fow, etc. jot some info on a piece of paper. I believe the more my lure is in the water the better chance I have of catching fish, time using an app reduces the time my lure is in the water. Quote
JayKumar Posted June 24, 2013 Posted June 24, 2013 Uh...there's another good one, very good in fact...! Quote
