wngan9447 Posted June 24, 2013 Posted June 24, 2013 I'm using braid with a 3' flouro leader on a St. Croix Mojo... loving the setup and definitely like the feel Quote
Super User Felix77 Posted June 24, 2013 Super User Posted June 24, 2013 Get black, no flakes, 5". IMO it's the calmest color in murky water. This is the only color I really fish slow. Have gotten instant hits every outing in the past 2-3 weeks. Let me know if this works for you. Been solid for me. One of my favorite colors. Buy them in bulk. Quote
Robert Riley Posted June 26, 2013 Author Posted June 26, 2013 Alright, it's been stormy the last few days, so I haven't been able to hit the water. BUT TONITE. TONITE WILL BE THE NIGHT! I've decided, more so out of despiration and curiosity, to toss my fluoro reel on my crankpole and hit the water. I'll get back to you tonite or tomorrow on the details. Also using a black senko (favorable over a white one at night?) rigged with a little weight about a foot up. Geeked. Quote
anonbassman Posted June 26, 2013 Posted June 26, 2013 You don't really need the weight, it will sink on its own. Quote

Junebug and Watermelon was my go to colors at night. But I personally would use the black over the white. You dont need the weight, just be patient as the senko falls. Good luck! Quote
pdmc1 Posted June 26, 2013 Posted June 26, 2013 The best color that works for me is Green Pumpkin on the river I fish and its a very slow retrieve..i just got back into fishing plastics but this color is a winner in my book Quote
TALON7215 Posted June 27, 2013 Posted June 27, 2013 Yamamoto has a color(bass pro also has it) called smoke black purple flake. I have caught more on that color than anything else. It looks like it changes colors after it has been in the water to more of a clear color..but it just might be my meds..who knows Quote
Robert Riley Posted June 27, 2013 Author Posted June 27, 2013 So I went out and on my third cast or so, my reel broke! So guess im actually getting that new reel I've been talking about haha. The technique, is it like jigging? Cuz I know its the fall that entices the bass. And when it comes to bites, will I know? Or is it that discreet? Quote
KYBassin' Posted June 27, 2013 Posted June 27, 2013 For the most part, the slower the better. After the cast, I let it sink and sit. From there I use a slow retrieve, lifting the rod tip a few feet, letting it sink and reeling up the slack. Basically hopping it along the bottom. If fish are more active, you can use a slow reel and jig approach. A texas rigged (weightless) worm dragged across the top of weeds can also be effective. Also, be aggressive with your casting. Meaning, put it in cover. I typically try to work areas at a 45 degree angle. For example, if I am working a shoreline area, I will make casts at a 45 degree to the bank, rather than straight at it. The retrieve spends more time in the strike zone. That's an tip for an old tourney fisherman I know. As for the bit, it will vary. The fish might grab it and run, this is why it is important to watch your line for movement. It could be aggressive or subtle. Other times the fish will grab it and just sit there, which is why when you lift to jig you should do it slow and steady, you will feel the weight. 1 Quote

As long as it catches fish with or without meds. EDIT: Went to bass pro today and picked up this color. I like it a lot. Gives me motivation to use a senko again and hopefully it works in my waters.
