I picked up a Citica 200E NIB at Gander Mountain the other day and I have had it out a couple times. I have noticed that the drag knob/star sorta wiggles a bit, resulting in the handle doing the same. I can push it towards the spool, but only slightly. It is not noticeable when I am fishing, only when cleaning it (which I do religiously). I have not yet taken the handle off because I am not very good at that stuff (my dexterity is terrible). I've only done so much as take out the spool and clean/lube in that area.

(excuse the crappy video. Taking one with one hand on a cell phone is not easy task)

Is this something I should be concerned with, or is it normal?

Should be fine, my Chronarchs do the same thing and have not had any issues...knock on wood!

The drag star is under tention from a spring underneath. Tighten the drag all the way down and see if there is still play in it. It may be just the left over space for it to tighten down. I've never noticed it on my 4 Shimano reels. I'll check in the am.

That is normal even with the drag tighten down all the way, you are still able to push it down. There is a spring underneath which the drag star sits on.

I tried that: tightened all the way down (as much as I could by hand), and there was still play. It's just a bit disconcerting because it does cause a slight bit of play in the handle as well.

TrippyJai is right..... :Victory:

There is a heavy coil spring under the drag star that keeps upward pressure on the star and star drag click pad just under the handle.

Remove the handle nut cap, then Crank the drags all the way down. Now using an 11mm nut wrench tightn the handle nut and replace the cap.

The slight wabble of the handle should stop, the drag star will still wobble slightly...

Good Luck & Tight Lines!   :fishing1:

I'm certain that almost all of my Shimano reels do the same. I wouldn't worry about it to be honest. You can try what RM said. If not you'll be just fine or the next time you do a little maintenance you can try to snug it up.

Enjoy that new baby! You're going to love it.

I was wrong in my op. ALL my baitcast reels do this. I guess I was just more observant in regards to my shiny new Shimano.
