Apparently my boy Andrew (10yrs) is pretty excited about the possibility of a trip the Bass Pro Shop this weekend (we are visiting family in Savannah).  He presented me with this list yesterday afternoon.  I can't put my finger on the exact reason, but it did make me feel pretty dang good.

Love it. I do about the same thing before I go, otherwise I get so overwhelmed with fishing stuff that I forget what I actually need! His handwriting is about as good as mine as well.

Planning to head there for the first time this year in a few weeks.

Be sure to have him count the various types of animals all over the place, like fish, birds, mammals, reptiles, etc.

Play a game with him and you pick out an animal to see if he can find it and he does the same within a 60-second time slot.

If the store has a shooting range bring quarters. Lots of quarters.

Have him climb all over the boats and 5-wheelers. Take pics as he will have the time of his life.

Check out the aquarium. Fantastic.

Have a fun time and bring home some of their fudge. It is outstanding.

ha!  My 5yo daughter woke me up the other morning to see if I would read her the BPS catalog.

Sounds like your kids on the right track.  I try and make lists like that before I go too.  Too bad I can't seem to stick to them once I get there.

I remember doing stuff like that when I was younger now you can barely get me out of the fishing section if you manage to do that I will probably be going to the restaurant that is attached to it (Ashland BPS) or to the boating section. By the way Sam you seem to be the holy grail for information on anything for bass fishing!!!!!

That's awesome. I think it made you feel good because you know you passed on something you love to your son Andrew.

I used to do the same thing when I was young, and I can remember my first trip to bass pro shops with my family. Talk about a thing of wonderment.

I remember my first trip also.  I was in my 30s.  Me and my buddies would sit around at work in NC and make big orders to save on shipping.  We always said we were going to take a road trip to MO. or wherever the main place is that we were ordering from.  ANd then it seemed like they started building them all over the place.

lol Sam is the King Of Lists

Be grateful you son is not like Sam. There would be 100 items on that list and instead of visiting family, you'd be visiting the poor house.

I used to hi light stuff I wanted in the catalog and that's all my parents had to do for me for Christmas or my birthday. Now I live 15 minutes from one so making a list isn't nearly as important. Besides if I forget something it just gives me a reason to go back.

The store in springfield is over the top. I've been to a number of other stores around the US and they can't touch the springfield store.
