I am interested in pouring off some football jigs using my FBB-4H-AFM  Do-it mold.  What I would like to

do is use some EWG hooks.  The best I have found is the Gamakatsu 2014 hook.  Anyone use anything

different, and found acceptable.

If you want to use a flat eye, the Mustad 38109 hooks will work in that mold as well.

As Cadman has stated, if you want a flat eye hook the Mustad 38109 is the way to go, if you want a regular vertical eye hook, well the Eagle Claw L111BP is what you want. Before you dismiss the Eagle Claw hook, this one is the new Laser Sharp Black Platinum series, these are really stout and super sharp and it is a fantastic EWG hook, one of the best I used.

I like to look for all alternatives for my molds.  There have been so many changes since I last tied jigs. (1990)  There were

no EWG hooks back then.  After tying a few jigs all my experience in tying came right back, and I can turn them out in

minutes.  The Eagle Claw hook certainly deserves consideration, as they seem to be way less money than the others

per 50 count.

Like Smalljaw mentioned, the EC EWG hooks are a solid super sharp hook. Definitely the EWG hook to use if you are looking for a regular eye hook. The new breed of EC hooks are exceptional. These are not your grandpas old bronze Eagle Claws. You will not be disappointed in the quality, rust resistance, sharpness and price. Best of all they are made in the U.S.A.
