I purchased a New Revo Gen 3 Wench in December 2012. I used it once when I noticed the line guide was skinning the line. Sent it to a warranty center and emailed the Abu Garcia customer service. It is now Mid june still havent got my reel back or heard from the customer service center. This has definetely sold me on Diawa, Quantum, or anything but an Abu Garcia.

The Abus this gen seem to be turds. I had an S, SX, and Stx and had issues from all 3. A few members have had issues with their winches as well.

So just how old was this 3rd generation wench when you purchased her?

It was a brand new reel
