Hey guys im 15 years old and from Massachusetts. Im pretty new to fishing. I used to fish a few years ago when my dad had a boat but i never really go into it but now that im older im really starting to get into it. I have been going almost everyday for about a month now and ive had some success shore fishing at my local ponds. One of my close friends does have a boat so we go out about once a week. So far my biggest large mouth has been a little over 2 pounds. I came across this site while watching a youtube video and it looks like a great place to learn some things. Also if anyone has any suplies they wanna sell or give away just let me know! im open to anything. thank you so much for reading this you definitely see me around the forum.

First of all, welcome to Bass Resource.  As a beginner bass fisherman, I would strongly suggest that you begin by reading the articles that have been posted in our Fishing Articles section.  Also our videos provide very valuable information  There is an encyclopedia of information posted in those places.

Secondly, if you are looking for fishing tackle, I suggest you visit our Flea Market forum.

Every day for about a month now? Very nice. You seem committed so far. If you want to learn as much as you can learn about bass fishing or fishing in general. Hit up YouTube! I've learned a LOT from YouTube in the past few years.

I don't have any tackle for ya being I'm a fisherman on a budget just like you. :D But I can tell you one amazing set up that's GUARANTEED to catch you fish, and for a cheap price.

As my profile states - I'm the Texas Rig Master! Look on YouTube how to do a proper Texas Rig and how to fish it. You can use it in a lot of situations. It's a rig that's been used for many many generations (ask your grandpa, I bet you anything he'll know exactly what a Texas Rig is) and is a great way to catch large or small bass. You can get 5 Texas Rigs for probably 10 bucks or less. Did I mention it's a weedless rig? Check it out and let me know how the fishing is coming along.

As Mike said. We are here to help you but you need to do some homework first.

Isn't that a bummer? You want to get into bass fishing and you are stuck doing homework.

Here are some additional suggestions to help you gain the knowledge and experience you need:

1.  Join BASS and or FLW (its cheap) and get their magazines.

2.  Subscribe to Bass Times. Great monthly publication and it goes into detail about the BASS tournaments.

3.  Consider subscribing to  Bass Angler Magazine. Packed with short articles.

4.  When you want to discuss a topic check out YouTube and use the search feature in the upper right hand corner of the Forum to look for your topic. Read those posts and watch the YouTube videos and then ask your question. We will inundate you with replies.

5.  BassResource has a video subscription that is free. Join their YouTube program and enjoy some of the best, down to earth productions on bass fishing.

6.  If you are on Facebook "like" this Forum plus any of your favorite pros. VanDam will have a video now and then on the Forum Facebook page plus other pros.

Being 15 you have many years to master the sport. Just take your time, read, read and read some more, watch the Sunday morning fishing shows, get books and DVDs on baits and techniques and most of all, start a library by tearing out the articles in magazines and putting them in file folders for future reference.

Check out the pros web sites. Ole Woo Daves, www.woodaves.com, has some articles that you may want to read. They are old but they still work today. Just don't take the products he is hawking seriously and there are newer and better products on the market.

You can also join a local bass fishing club when you are 16 and ask the guys who fish for bass at your favorite tackle shop what they like to throw and when.

So ask your questions; watch TV and YouTube; subscribe to bassresource's YouTube productions and read, read and read.

All the best and remember - Tight Lines!

Go on line to Tackle Warehouse and ALL OF THE FORUM ADVERTISERS and read their sites. Northstar jigs are too pretty to throw; Rage Tails are great; JJs Magic is out of sight; and the list goes on.

Welcome to the forum.  My only suggestion is to keep things simple at first.  Learn to texas rig a senko and throw a spinnerbait.  Get a good feel for those and master catching fish with them.  Those will become your finesse and power technique foundations.  As you learn more from this forum, books, magazines & DVD's you will naturally want to try more.

Don't be afraid to ask questions ... there is no stupid questions ... Good luck
