Bigterp77 Posted June 17, 2013 Posted June 17, 2013 Ive picked up a few from different companies but I was wondering if you guys had your favorites and what they were? Seems like the KVD series is popular and Rapala is the most advertised and available. Personally, I used a sebile crankster this past weekend and loved it. Real good movement and was easy to cast out there. Just trying to get your opinions, thanks! Quote
Rangerphil Posted June 17, 2013 Posted June 17, 2013 I fish alot of cranks, but here is what I like the most! 1. Squarebill: rapala dt fat 2. Medium: bandit 200, bomber 5a or 6a 3. Medium to a little deeper: Norman deep lil n 4. 10 foot or deeper: rapala dt 10, bomber fat free 5. Deep: Norman dd22 however I rarely fish deep divers. This is some of the ones I have faith in, hope this helps! Quote
5dollarsplash Posted June 17, 2013 Posted June 17, 2013 I like spro. They look like they'll go down and get the fish whether he wants it or not lol Quote
smallieking Posted June 17, 2013 Posted June 17, 2013 Fav square ill is a kvd 1.5 Fav shallow diver is a rapala dt4 or dt6 depending on depth Fav crank bait for 10 ft would be a rapala dt10 or strike king series 5 When water gets deep around 15 feet I like strike king series 5xd. Anything deeper than that I like a bomber fat free shad. And for water deeper than ten feet I use a lunar Jensen hot lips 20+ Quote
Bigterp77 Posted June 17, 2013 Author Posted June 17, 2013 just ordered a few of the kvd 2.5 and waiting to see how they perform. most of where im throwing them is pretty shallow and full of vegetation (pita). any of you guys ever go for any of the handmade (balsa/cedar) cranks you can find online? Rangerphil Posted June 17, 2013 Posted June 17, 2013 I use to fish the poe's alot. The only problem is I have a hard time keeping those kind of cranks tuned! Quote
Comfortably Numb Posted June 18, 2013 Posted June 18, 2013 I have been fishing the Rapala Scatter Rap crank in Bluegill and doing really well with it. Goes about 4-6' on 20# PP. Very snagless too. Quote
TNBassin' Posted June 18, 2013 Posted June 18, 2013 Any crank by Norman is a winner. Try out their new NXS line of cranks. Amazing quality and colors. You can't go wrong with any of their stuff. 1 Quote
flippin and pitchin Posted June 18, 2013 Posted June 18, 2013 I'm a huge fan of Luhr Jensen Speed Traps for moderately shallow water. The Norman Deep Little N is my money bait hands down and the Hot Lips is not far behind. The Normans Fat Boy is very productive. The DD22 is a staple. The NXS will be a beast bait. #2 hooks and a kickin' vibration. I could stock these baits alone and toss the rest out and be fine. Quote
Super User Bankbeater Posted June 18, 2013 Super User Posted June 18, 2013 Probably because they were the first cranks I can remember using, but the Cordell Big-O is my fav. I don't use them as much as the others, but it is my fav. Quote

Super User Sam Posted June 18, 2013 Super User Posted June 18, 2013 Big Terp, in lieu of giving you my favorite crankbait (KVD 1.5 Square Bill) I will suggest you do the following for all cranks you purchase: 1. Remove hooks and replace them with the same size or a size larger. I like to use the Mustad Triple Grip Wide Gap Treble Hooks in size 4 or next size larger. 2. To give the crankbait a totally different look I will add a feather to the rear treble hook. You can find treble hooks with feathers in your favorite tackle store. 3. Tight wobble in cold water and wide wobble in warm water. 4. Add a touch of bright orange nail polish covered with clear nail polish on the bottom near the crank's head. Gives the crank a different look and the bass have another target on the crank to focus on. 5. Use some solder and weight the front hook so the crank will go deeper and also have a different look. You can purchase whatever crankbaits you want and throw them out of the box. You can also change their look and action to give you a stronger advantage against an opponent that has a brain the size of a pea. Quote
Super User roadwarrior Posted June 18, 2013 Super User Posted June 18, 2013 Shallow: Norman Fat Boy, Bomber Square A, Bagley B2 and Lazy Ike Midrange: Fat Free Shad, Lucky Craft LV RTO Omori 2.5, KVD 2.5, Bandit 300 and KVD Red Eye Shad Deep: Norman DD22 and Rapala DT16 Quote
