JWOA Posted June 16, 2013 Posted June 16, 2013 I'm 16 years old I've been bas fishing for 6 years now. And I trying to fish every rig I know. How do you find out what's your best rig / setup? How did you know this was it? Quote
MrSwimJig Posted June 16, 2013 Posted June 16, 2013 Mine is the swim jig. It just has been the best producer for me over the past 5 to 6 years and I have a lot of confidence in it and will throw it anywhere and at anytime and am completely confident I will catch fish with it. Quote
Jmrichardson2011 Posted June 16, 2013 Posted June 16, 2013 My go to lure is a texas rig worm. I can cast it into any tight spot, I know the various presentations well and can detect even light bites. Basically, one's go to rig comes down to what you want to throw and master. I am a martial artist and we have a saying that I think can be adapted to fit here. The saying goes like this "don't fear the person who has practiced 1000 moves 1 time, fear the one who has practiced one move 1000 times" Basically, what you decide to perfect will become your go to attack. 2 Quote
smallieking Posted June 16, 2013 Posted June 16, 2013 I have two go to lures..... if the bass are chasing then I love to use a rapala dt4.... if there more sluggish and I need to work for bites my all time go to lure is a texas rigged zoom brush hog in watermelonseed color. 2 Quote
GaterB Posted June 16, 2013 Posted June 16, 2013 Weightless zoom super fluke jr or trick worm in some type of green color combo.Takes patience, but bass can't stand something falling naturally in front of them. Quote
JWOA Posted June 16, 2013 Author Posted June 16, 2013 Weightless zoom super fluke jr or trick worm in some type of green color combo.Takes patience, but bass can't stand something falling naturally in front of them. What type of line? Quote
GaterB Posted June 16, 2013 Posted June 16, 2013 What type of line? I'll throw it on 8-12 lb fluorocarbon in light to moderate cover, but have also used braid when there's a lot of grass present. Mono will work too, just won't sink like fluorocarbon, which means you have to wait longer for the weight of the lure and hook to sink. I like to let it sink to the bottom and twitch it sharply, trying to hop it more than pull it forward so that it falls temptingly back to the bottom in front of the fish. They usually hit it on the fall. Quote
JWOA Posted June 16, 2013 Author Posted June 16, 2013 What type of line? Um....I guess i should be more detailed braid co plymer or fluro? Quote
GaterB Posted June 16, 2013 Posted June 16, 2013 Sorry about that I had some technical difficulty on my first attempt to reply lol 1 Quote
nascar2428 Posted June 17, 2013 Posted June 17, 2013 Texas rigged worm or creature. 20lb braid with 10lb flouro leader. Quote

38 Super Fan Posted June 17, 2013 Posted June 17, 2013 I fish for fun, and for me, that means topwater. So that's become my go to...and a Sammy is probably my favorite, that or a buzzbait. 1 Quote
Global Moderator Bluebasser86 Posted June 17, 2013 Global Moderator Posted June 17, 2013 Jig, if I get to pick up my pitching rod with 17 or 20lb fluoro and a 1/2oz brush jig and never put it down all day then I'm happy, happy, happy! Quote
Super User Bankbeater Posted June 17, 2013 Super User Posted June 17, 2013 Lately it has been a 1/8 jig. Quote
CPBassFishing Posted June 17, 2013 Posted June 17, 2013 A 1/2 oz. brush jig for sure. Black/blue or brown/greenpumpkin depnding on water clarity. I go down the bank all day pitching it, and it is fun! Quote
Super User roadwarrior Posted June 17, 2013 Super User Posted June 17, 2013 Right now it's a NorthStar Swim Jig with a Rage Tail Shellcracker trailer. Quote
Phlyborn Posted June 17, 2013 Posted June 17, 2013 T-rigged green/ red flake Senko is easily the most used in my arsenal of baits and lures. Can be used anywhere you can cast it, with or without weight. 1 Quote
tallen316 Posted June 18, 2013 Posted June 18, 2013 A Texas or weightless watermelon with black flake senko. 1 Quote
Super User QUAKEnSHAKE Posted June 18, 2013 Super User Posted June 18, 2013 For the past couple weeks mine has been the Kinami Palm Tree. My senko bite for some reason has been non-existent this year. The lipless crank bite has faded. My jig had a few taps today but no takes. From running overtop of weedmats to bottom 20'-25' the Palm Trees have shined. Quote
Blues19 Posted June 18, 2013 Posted June 18, 2013 Texas Rigged Brush Hog in Green Pumpkin, Watermelon Red, or Watermelon Candy. Always seems to work, probably cause I throw it more than anything else. Jigs are growing into my Go To or Confidence bait though. Quote
TexasRigger21 Posted June 18, 2013 Posted June 18, 2013 3/8oz arkie head jig. Doesn't catch a lot of fish, but it catches some big ones Quote
buzzfrog Posted June 18, 2013 Posted June 18, 2013 Shakeyhead and if they day is going way of skunk... Throw on a frog on and have fun, cause a hog could eat it any second 1 Quote
