TWMstr Posted June 16, 2013 Posted June 16, 2013 Caught a 4 pound female yesterday and she put up a hell of a fight. When I finally got her out of the water she had two circular wounds on the left side of her gill? The wounds were purplish red. Almost looks like a leech was there or something. Any ideas? Quote
Super User clayton86 Posted June 16, 2013 Super User Posted June 16, 2013 Jimmy Houston got a little carried away kissing lead to giving the bass a hicky Quote
TWMstr Posted June 16, 2013 Author Posted June 16, 2013 I know spawn has been over at this lake for about a month so it couldn't be fighting off brim or crappie, so it has to be leeches or something. Just never seen anything like it. Quote
Super User Grizzn N Bassin Posted June 17, 2013 Super User Posted June 17, 2013 Caught one with it too.. idk what it is Quote
MIbassin Posted June 17, 2013 Posted June 17, 2013 lampreys, like leeches suck blood off of other creatures. I would google it, but they have circular mouths with sucking teeth and are much larger than leeches Quote
CPBassFishing Posted June 19, 2013 Posted June 19, 2013 If the marks were right under the pectoral fin, then it was probably a lamprey. They are eel-like creatures with circular mouths that latch onto fish and suck their blood. Quote
