Super User Raider Nation Fisher Posted June 16, 2013 Super User Posted June 16, 2013 So any die hard Harry Potter fans on here? Just watched the final movie with my son. I dare say. Some of those witches were quite good looking. Especially that Bellatrix witch. I mean meow baby! Unfortunately the scar headed dunce survived. I was really pulling for the bad guys in this one. Unfortunately it didn't deviate from the books, in that regard. Quote
Super User retiredbosn Posted June 16, 2013 Super User Posted June 16, 2013 Your are a man of many interests. More like an enigma wrapped in mystery and surrounded by riddles Actually watching the last two now, read the books with my kids. Quote

Super User Fishing Rhino Posted June 16, 2013 Super User Posted June 16, 2013 I enjoy the Harry Potter story. I've got the audio books on my Ipod. I listen to them when I'm travelling. It's not just the story, it's the creativity of the author in making the story a jigsaw puzzle with pieces scattered throughout, that are all tied together as the story comes to its conclusion. In many ways, it's similar to the Star Wars saga in the way the characters connect. Quote
Super User Teal Posted June 17, 2013 Super User Posted June 17, 2013 Why did I open thiis thread? Quote
Super User Raider Nation Fisher Posted June 17, 2013 Author Super User Posted June 17, 2013 Why did I open thiis thread?Cause your a closet Potter fan! I just said I thought the witch was hot. What were you expecting? An in depth discussion into the nuisances of Mr. Potter and his adventures in England? You should know better than that. I'm completely sprung on my newest weight lifting supplement. I'm not sure I can carry on a thought provoking discussion right now. I'm doing good to speak in something other than grunts right now. More like an enigma wrapped in mystery and surrounded by riddles Actually watching the last two now, read the books with my kids. I Am aren't I? I remember my wife and I waiting in line to buy the last two books. Her uncle gave her the British editions of the books. As well as the collectors editions of the special release books she came out with, during and after the main 7 book series. I enjoy the Harry Potter story. I've got the audio books on my Ipod. Have quite the library going too. You are right Mrs. Rowling created an awesome world when she wrote those books. Quote
Super User Darren. Posted June 17, 2013 Super User Posted June 17, 2013 Fan here! Haven't read the books, but watched all the movies several times. Couple of my boys have read the books, though. I plan to--some day. Quote
Super User retiredbosn Posted June 17, 2013 Super User Posted June 17, 2013 For those taking long trips with the kids, I strongly recommend checking the audio books out from your library. I pop it in, the kids are quiet and listening to the story and best of all no "are we there yets". They don't even argue, this series of books did more to get kids reading than anything else. Quote

I agree. The movies are the equivalent of Cliff Notes. There is so much more detail in the books, that in many ways the movies are a disappointment. The audio books are read by Jim Dale. But, they are not just read. He has a different voice for every character. His readings literally breathe life into the characters. A modern day Mel Blanc. Quote
Super User Sam Posted June 18, 2013 Super User Posted June 18, 2013 I was surprised that the lead female character got hooked up with the red haired kid and Harry got another girl as his wife. Movies are too dark and busy for me to follow although I have watched them all. Quote

She pretty much isolated Harry in one way or another throughout the whole story. Quote
Super User Tuckahoe Joe Posted June 20, 2013 Super User Posted June 20, 2013 Haven't read the books but I like the movies. I'm trying to get them all on my DVR cuz I'm too cheap to buy them but they keep re-running the same 2 or 3 on the movie channels. Quote
