A certain lake I fishhas produced well for me with smaller jigs. The problem is the max weight I seem to be able to use and not get covered in the mung all over the bottum is 3/16 or so. I'd like to start using a few larger profile trailers, but the finesse jigs (s.k. bitsy bug, terminator tiny T, etc) I like dont have an adequate hook. I'm even considering having some custom made at this point. Can any of you reccomend anything?

If you are looking for a large profile, light weight jig that wont get hung up here you go.

Jig with skirt and plastic cover

Pj Lures Ultimate Jig

It weighs 5/16oz and makes use of a skirt forward design where the skirt is placed in front of the weedguard. The white plastic piece comes with the jigs and slips over the line tie and makes it extremely weedless, and can be colored to match the skirt color.

fishy---that is awesome! really neat design. You might have the answer.

Wayne---I've tried that but most shakeyheads either have the wrong style head (Ball) or dont have a long enough (or the wire is not a heavy enough gauge). I'm open to any suggestions you might have though.

Best idea yet.  You can get exactly what you want.

GMAN's jigs are top notch and are the only ones that I buy.

Your not the only one that has asked about this very issue. One day last year I started messing around with tin/bismuth and built a few nontox jigs. One of the side effects was the jig is lighter then lead. Pretty cool I thought. I discovered that a 1/2oz profile jig weighs about 3/8 ounce.  A 3/8 is about a 1/4.

Thanks guys!
