bocabasser Posted June 14, 2013 Posted June 14, 2013 first let me apologize to mike (piscicidal) for changing my mind. i found a pvc screw that fit my drain plug and i hit lox at 7pm. mike and I were supposed to go, but the drain plug issue made me cancel on mike. luckily i decided to go late. I stroked them! caught 25 pounds in 30 minutes. five 5 pounders in 10 minutes. Crazy bite tonight. 1 Quote

bocabasser Posted June 16, 2013 Author Posted June 16, 2013 fished lox again today from 1-6 and crushed em again! i went with my partner to break in his new merc 250 optimax and we stopped at our first stop and caught at least 50 fish within 90 minutes. biggest fish was only 4 pounds, but every fish came on topwater. tried several other spots looking for a big bite, but it never came. had giant blow up my topwater, but she came unbuttoned. bassin lou-we are in an odd time for lox. they are draining water like mad. since thursday when i posted those pics, the water has dropped at least a foot. the key right now at lox is to find running water that has a deep drop nearby. those fish are stacked and waiting for ANYTHING to come swimming or floating by. pop r's, spooks, spinnerbaits waked and any other top water you are confident with. i lost a giant flipping on thursday night and that will soon be the best bite out there. once they stop moving the water, it will get tougher. hope this helps. 1 Quote

piscicidal Posted June 24, 2013 Posted June 24, 2013 Anyone get out to Lox this weekend? I went out yesterday morning with my son Luke. Awesome doesn't begin to describe the bite....I was off the water at 8:30AM with ~20lb bag (and a broken trolling motor ). All fish caught on topwater...spooks and chug bugs. Luke has a new favorite bait...the chug bug. Quote

piscicidal Posted June 24, 2013 Posted June 24, 2013 Lox can be a tough nut to crack. Those fish might be in the canals, in the flats or way back in the trails. They move around a ton out there. In general, though, if you follow the water conditions you can kind of figure out where the better spots might be. in the last couple years, I've started watching the SFWMD (South Florida Water Management District) site pretty closely, and it has helped my fishing not only at Lox but at Holiday Park/Alligator Alley as well. It helps not only to know whether the water is high or low, but whether it is rising/falling. It is also important to know the quality of the water they are moving around out there. This weekend they were pushing a lot of water out of the pump houses out west...this is normally pretty good for some areas around the canals out west, but this water was nasty agricultural run-off and had a reddish color to it. The fish pushed out of that red water and into the nearest good water they good find. I figured this out pretty quickly (as soon as I had enough light to see the water clarity) and at my second stop I had six fish over four pounds in a half hour. 1 Quote
fstr385 Posted June 24, 2013 Posted June 24, 2013 Yea it makes sense when the levels are low, esp during summer they come out into the main waterways, and out in the grass when its up, but I suck out there in either lol. I never thought to check the wm site though, thats a good idea. Thanks for the tip! Ive never gone so far west to see any foggy water. I think the farthest ive gone west is maybe a mile past the "kink" in the main canal. Quote

Much appreciated. yes lox road in boca. i also fish the boynton entrance as well when the water is super low. i have a couple of flipping stretches that usually hold some giants. again, this is all dependent upon the water levels.
