TheNewGuy Posted June 13, 2013 Posted June 13, 2013 Most of what ive been hearing on douglas lake is that the fish are 30, 40 or even 50 feet deep. Anybody else have any tips. Ive been struggling to find a school of fish deep. Quote
TNBassin' Posted June 14, 2013 Posted June 14, 2013 That's my home lake. They absolutely stay deep, or they suspend. Summer is absolutely brutal when it comes to catching fish on Douglas, especially during the day. I've had great luck at night fishing rocky banks or rocky islands with a shakey head and a black worm though. Day time calls for some 6XDs and long lining the lure to get it extra deep. Also, jigging spoons, and big jigs seem to produce pretty well. Douglas is tough though no matter how you slice it. The PAA guys had awesome luck with a YUM Flash Mob, so you may wanna give that a shot. Right now I've been doing well on a 1/2oz Red Eye Shad fishing it parallel to banks and across rocky points. The fish right now don't seem to be holding super deep, or suspending much right now. The lake level is really high right now, and it's brought them up just a tad. Hope this helps. If you figure something out, let me know. I'm always looking for tips on how to fish Douglas, as it's usually feast or famine. Quote
TheNewGuy Posted June 15, 2013 Author Posted June 15, 2013 Yea it's a tough lake. If you can find a school tight now you'll be alright but that's the hard part for me right now. Quote
