As stated above plus Bandit, Lucky Craft or any other shallow running crank.

Go with sexy shad, blue with chartreuse back or all chartreuse.

Change out back hook to one of same size with a feather.  :P

Watching NCIS and goofed.

Make that chartreuse with a blue back.

Don't know how big and bulky you want to go, but a Bomber Square A is a dandy shallow water crank.

Bomber Model B.  Its balsa, large, and runs shallow.

x2 on the Bombers. I like the balsa ones as well. Wood always seems to have a little bit of a different action than plastic, almost like it's more natural.

Although, you can't do wrong with the Sexy Shad either. I have caught fish on that thing when it was only 2 feet beside me. It's a great multi-species imitator too (bluegill and multiple shads).

Timber Tigers.  A DC 8 gets about 4 feet down on 17 lb line and you have to work to get it stuck.  It is just amazing how you can throw this bait into gnarly stuff and it comes back much more often than not.  Lots of different colors are available.

rapala DT Fat 01's are freakin huge crankbaits. biggest ones i have in my box. despite their name they don't dive to one foot but more like wake the surface. they have a huge roll to them and definitely call up some fish.

the DT Fat 03 is an average sized crankbait, about the size of other DT's but much much more round bodied. it dives to about 3 feet as advertised. it rattles, which i like (DT 01 doesn't rattle). i have one DT Fat 03 and it is without a doubt my favorite crankbait i own.

Good fat bodied, shallow running cranks under $5:

Manns C-4

Norman Fat Boy

Strike King Series 4S

I use all of them with alot of success, the Fat boy and C-4 have pretty wide wobbles, the SK is a bit tighter. All 3 come through cover great, all also need new hooks right out of the pack though IMHO.

Forgot to mention the Rapala DTFAT.  It's large, balsa, has a wide wobble, and did I say large?

dsavedra, I havent tried the DT03, does it move similar to the DTFAT?
