quanjig Posted June 14, 2013 Posted June 14, 2013 Such a shame to have to do that to a nice little lake. I understand why, just wish they could find a way to do it without disturbing an already established good fish population. Quote
georgeyew Posted June 14, 2013 Posted June 14, 2013 I know. Especially since there was nothing wrong with the dam. They should have just grandfathered it in. Quote
soccplayer07 Posted June 14, 2013 Posted June 14, 2013 sucks...that's my go to afternoon spot... Quote
JSPOONE Posted June 14, 2013 Posted June 14, 2013 i like how it says fish rescue in the title.. when its a healthy little lake w/ some big fish Quote
quanjig Posted June 15, 2013 Posted June 15, 2013 Huntsman has been my hidden little gem, I can't begin to tell you how many 5-6 lb fish I have caught from there in the past 6 or 7 years. Probably more than all the other lakes I fish combined. I will be sad when its all drained and I have to find another lake to dissect! Quote
JSPOONE Posted June 15, 2013 Posted June 15, 2013 yeh ive fished huntsman twice this year. and i was starting to figure the little lake.. might as well fish it till u cant anymore Quote
Bassmass21 Posted June 20, 2013 Author Posted June 20, 2013 im catching more fish at mercer but none with any size Quote
JSPOONE Posted June 24, 2013 Posted June 24, 2013 went out to mercer late afternoon and early this morning.. cauGHT 7 in the 2 days non over 1.5 pounds and one white perch Quote
Bassmass21 Posted June 25, 2013 Author Posted June 25, 2013 i went out today didnt catch a d**n thing too hot, and would you all consider mercer's water clear or not? Quote
JSPOONE Posted June 26, 2013 Posted June 26, 2013 i would call it murky and its clear in some spots... im going out tomorrow morning to try out some new spots around the stumps and throw my double fluke rig Quote
Bassmass21 Posted June 26, 2013 Author Posted June 26, 2013 I am starting/trying to use senkos. I have absolutely no luck with them at mercer. I need help, what color/size do you guys use? also what type of retrieve do you use? Quote
JSPOONE Posted June 26, 2013 Posted June 26, 2013 for me mainly just flukes flukes and more flukes. and a kvd 1.5 sexy shad crank.. u have to find where the grass beds are n thats where the fish are going to b.. espcially with this heat we are having and the high pressure the fish are stuck on structure/grass beds since the grass beds produce more oxygen levels Quote
Bassmass21 Posted June 26, 2013 Author Posted June 26, 2013 yeah this heat is impossible while shore fishing, its a struggle... Quote
JSPOONE Posted June 27, 2013 Posted June 27, 2013 yeh its hard but i wouldnt call it a struggle.. ive switched to smaller baits weightless Quote
s freud Posted June 27, 2013 Posted June 27, 2013 Can you access mercer with a boat? I might be up for that sometime and would be happy to host a copilot. Quote
DJ 6_6 Posted June 27, 2013 Posted June 27, 2013 I am starting/trying to use senkos. I have absolutely no luck with them at mercer. I need help, what color/size do you guys use? also what type of retrieve do you use? Ive just started using them this year also, and rig it wacky style. ive only fished about 5 times this year but the 4 outta 5 times I did catch fish, it was on this rig. brown/watermellon/pumpkinseed colors work best for me.... DJ 6_6 Posted June 27, 2013 Posted June 27, 2013 yeah this heat is impossible while shore fishing, its a struggle... I feel the bass are only up shallow for the first hour or two of day light, then they move deeper 10+ ft to cooler water as the day progresses. kinda hard to reach them from the shore during the day, unless you find a point that drops off fairly quickly. JSPOONE Posted June 27, 2013 Posted June 27, 2013 Can you access mercer with a boat? I might be up for that sometime and would be happy to host a copilot. YES U CAN with a canoe and a cart and u can put it in the water.. its a hell of a walk if u have to carry it Quote
Bassmass21 Posted June 30, 2013 Author Posted June 30, 2013 Lol if u want a copilot I'm down haha Quote
s freud Posted June 30, 2013 Posted June 30, 2013 Being that I have a Jon boat it sounds like you'll have to be a body builder to pull this off. Lol if u want a copilot I'm down haha Quote
JSPOONE Posted June 30, 2013 Posted June 30, 2013 Unless u have a cart to wheel it down to the lake 1 Quote
s freud Posted July 1, 2013 Posted July 1, 2013 Then let's do this! How far a trek are we talking? Quote
JSPOONE Posted July 1, 2013 Posted July 1, 2013 its probably a little more than a mile to where u can put ur boat in with ease Quote
