pricemo22 Posted June 10, 2013 Posted June 10, 2013 I got some zoom watermelon worm last weekend and there already gone the bass are ripping them in half when I catch them is there any thing I can do to stop that or a different worm that is recommended for me to use Quote
Super User Darren. Posted June 10, 2013 Super User Posted June 10, 2013 What style are you fishing them? Wacky? If so, you can use a piece of shrink wrap from a local hardware store to place around the mid-section and hook thru it. Will save the worm from being destroyed (typically) by one fish. Should last a while. 1 Quote
TALON7215 Posted June 10, 2013 Posted June 10, 2013 The salted ones seem to tear apart real easy when hit hard. I would think the non salted would be a little tougher, and a quick little tidbit...don't leave them in the heat. I left a pack on the front of the boat in the morning and it was about 11 before I remembered. Let's just say that once they get hit..just get a new one lol. Quote
Global Moderator Bluebasser86 Posted June 10, 2013 Global Moderator Posted June 10, 2013 The sell rubber O rings just for wacky rigging that will get you more fish per bait from your wacky rigs. If you're T rigging and want more fish per bait you might try a Zman worm or some other Elastech style bait. If you do just make sure not to mix them with regular plastic worms because they will melt. Quote
BassAssassin726 Posted June 13, 2013 Posted June 13, 2013 Just the name of the game man. Be happy, it means you're catching fish. lol. Quote

buzzfrog Posted June 13, 2013 Posted June 13, 2013 when i have streaks like that, Idc about about buying extras, lol but after I a while it sucks having to keep buying them. last year I was wacking them like crazy, ripping my GY senkos to crap, so i got some gander brand, boiled them to make em soft just like GY, still worked Quote
bgraham91 Posted June 13, 2013 Posted June 13, 2013 When they start doing that when I'm fishing with trick worms, sinkos, or any other type of stick baits I just flip them around, it gives it a little bit of a different action but it still gets the job done. Quote
Downeaster2010 Posted June 14, 2013 Posted June 14, 2013 I went on a search for O-rings, and in the fishermens supply stores they are very expensive. I did some more searching and found some alternatives. Clear rubber tubing that is in the 3/8 id can be purchase in any hardward store. It can be cut into small O-rings with a sharp knife or razor blade. Another is to cut black shrink wrap to fit over the worm. Another is you can go to a store that sell horse groom supplies. They sell o-rings that are made for grooming horse mane. Its about twice as big as you need, but doubling it over and putting on a worm is easy. I recently purchased 2 thousand for 2 dollars. They work just fine. Quote
Super User Catt Posted June 14, 2013 Super User Posted June 14, 2013 You’ve got a choice to make You can either have lures in your tackle box or fish in your live well but you cannot have both! 1 Quote

Don't go to a fishing store looking for O rings Go to an auto supply store or a hardware store I think I pay about 5 cents a piece for them, also places like Home Depot or Lowes carry them pretty cheap. dddyfz27 Posted June 15, 2013 Posted June 15, 2013 I use them when i wacky rig senkos and I bought a 100 count of o-rings off ebay for 5.00 dollars with free shipping. Quote
