dam0007 Posted June 9, 2013 Posted June 9, 2013 So lost my only pair of polarized glasses which weren't that good anyways. So me and the misses were at the mall and I grabbed a new pair. My question is here in CT green pumpkin is ideal bait color for the dirty and stained water so is amber or brown a good color lens? Couldn't find Grey or blue in my price range for a good pair. I know green is based on amber and is considered great but couldn't find any. I ended up with brown tinted lens set of ray bans that were on clearance. No one around here sells costas that I could find and the Oakleys were too much and felt cheap. Quote
davew41 Posted June 9, 2013 Posted June 9, 2013 Yes the amber color is good for all weather conditions, whereas sometimes the dark/black would not be good fishing on a overcast Day. I would recommend the new strike king S11 Glasses, they are not to expensive so when they end up in the drink you won't cry that much, and they have Great reviews here in another thread by other forum members as well. http://www.bassresource.com/bass-fishing-forums/topic/116247-strike-king-s11-optic-glasses/page-2?hl=%2Bstrike+%2Bking+%2Bs11#entry1291182 I personally own the S11's myself and love them. You can get them on tacklewarehose or amazon. Good luck in your search. http://www.amazon.com/s/ref=nb_sb_noss_1?url=search-alias%3Daps&field-keywords=strike+king+s11 Quote
BASShunterOH Posted June 9, 2013 Posted June 9, 2013 At that price I'll be trying a pair for sure! Quote
Super User MarkH024 Posted June 9, 2013 Super User Posted June 9, 2013 Amber is a great lense and can be used in all conditions like stated. I also have ft he S11 and they've been great to me so far. Quote
tritondriver Posted June 9, 2013 Posted June 9, 2013 I have gone through solar bats, wiley x, and Oakley they all have had pros and cons, so I tried the SK S11 to compare...the S11 are not built as well as all plastic, but they fit great don't slide down the nose and the lens is comparable to the expensive ones I listed...u can find them cheaper on amazon then what the tackle stores are selling them for....I am goin with the SK11 in the future.. dam0007 Posted June 9, 2013 Author Posted June 9, 2013 Walmart sells them! Gonna swing by there later. Feel like an a s s that I dropped $100 on these. Quote
Super User Marty Posted June 9, 2013 Super User Posted June 9, 2013 I didn't see the information on Strike King's site, but I wouldn't buy their glasses or anyone else's until I knew that they offered 100% protection against both UVA and UVB. My glasses are Ono brand in amber and I agree that it's an excellent overall color. Quote
dam0007 Posted June 10, 2013 Author Posted June 10, 2013 So I stopped at Walmart they didn't have strike king only Berkeley and spider wire for 15 a pair. I grabbed a Grey lens and amber of spider wire. $30.... cool to have spares for the just in case situation anyways. Walmart website said in store only for the strike kings so make sure u call before u waste a trip FYI. I plan on getting a pair of costas at some point. Any how these cheap ones seem decent. Quote
dam0007 Posted June 10, 2013 Author Posted June 10, 2013 Just noticed something ray bans the amber color is on the outside of the lens and the inside is multi purple blue etc. The spiders are vice versa. What's the advantage or disadvantage of this? ... and @ Marty these side wire ones say 100% Uva uvb protection. Quote
