airborne_angler Posted June 8, 2013 Posted June 8, 2013 Been on a hollow body frog kick lately and have been picking up ones I thought were reasonably priced. Came across one made by a company called ***.The frog I got was part of thier Edukit series of baits. Basically its a particular bait with a fold out brochure on how to fish the bait, recommended setup, techniques and such. I paid $5 with shipping for this frog, which I thought was alright.I was a little disappointed when the frog artived.I was expecting a standard frog...ended up being a mini.what can you expect for $5? There maybe a silver lining to this though.Perhaps I could use this frog to target Monster Panfish like Green Sunfish, Redear and Bluegill on light tackle...or maybe I could match the hatch for those little frogs running around... Here's the frog I picked up next to a Spro Bronzeye Frog... Quote
Super User MarkH024 Posted June 8, 2013 Super User Posted June 8, 2013 You will still get bass on them. Good smallie frog I bet too. Just make sure the hooks are nice and sharp. Quote
The Commodore Posted June 8, 2013 Posted June 8, 2013 I have ***'s other frog. The one that looks like a real frog. It's on TW under ***. I have not used it much but the action looks good for not having hair legs. I think it would be great for letting it sit on the water for extended periods of time since it looks pretty real. When I get my frog rod setup I will be testing it more. I am sure you can still catch some larger bass on the little frog. Quote
Super User Grizzn N Bassin Posted June 9, 2013 Super User Posted June 9, 2013 Yea you'll still get bass with that thing! Quote
airborne_angler Posted June 9, 2013 Author Posted June 9, 2013 I don't doubt ill still catch bass with it, I was just surprised at how little it was... Quote
Global Moderator Bluebasser86 Posted June 9, 2013 Global Moderator Posted June 9, 2013 Most of the frogs I see are tiny little things, about an inch long, and the bass love them. I'd put it on a spinning rod with braid and fish it around sparse grass or open areas and I bet you'll catch plenty of bass on it. Quote
airborne_angler Posted June 9, 2013 Author Posted June 9, 2013 Even if it only catches dinks, it will be a valuable asset on really getting the timing and the feel of a frog hookset down pat...think it will be a great learning tool... Quote
Super User BassinLou Posted June 9, 2013 Super User Posted June 9, 2013 Looks like the same size as Live Target's small frog. Only difference is the price tag. You will definitely catch some bass with that little frog. Quote
RyneB Posted June 10, 2013 Posted June 10, 2013 I have the small Live Target Frog and it catches fish of all sizes. The downside to the small frog is its much harder to throw with heavy baitcasting equipment. Quote
craww Posted June 10, 2013 Posted June 10, 2013 I have a few and their a blast! More subtle touchdown than the big honking 5/8 frogs. They don't cast too bad on my shakyhead rod with 15/4 braid. Quote
