Sounds like its something your going to have to live with haha. I have the SX gen 3 and it does the same noise but it is an amazing reel and casts so far. If its performing well then why get rid of it? Is it affecting your cast distance? Does it feel weird on the retrieve? If not then I don't see anything wrong. I don't like that mine does it either but the reel is awesome.

That's exactly why I dumped every one I had. I refuse to pay 120-200 dollars for a reel to have it scream like a banche everytime I cast. It's annoying and frankly shows what crappy quality control a company has. The product should work and work flawlessly. It would be different if all Abu reels did this and had since the company started. But they don't and the problems lie on all the new Gen 3's.

It's just a sound. But I understand. The way I look at it is the bass don't care what it sounds like so I don't. I don't even recognize it anymore.

My 3rd Gen Revo S has just started to do this. I also oiled it and it still has the noise. Not real happy with it.

I feel everyone's pain that has had gen 3 Revo issues. I did away with that pain and bought a couple Shimano Chronarchs. So far so good.

Did you get an answer to why your reel would not open properly?   What was the solution?

I'm boycotting Abu Garcia, i'm sticking to higher end Daiwa now

I still wish my Revo S's were as great as they were, when I first bought them. I had nothing but high praises at first. They look and felt great at the time.

I talked to Bantam1 about it, and he never heard of the issue but is sending me some rod shims. I'm gonna make a video and send it to him so he can see exactly what the issue is. It's weird it's only with the Crucial rods.

ABU significantly lightened the Revos this Gen and I think the feel and sound is a side effect. I don't see anything mechanically inferior so far. I can say pretty confidently that all the extra lube some are applying is completely unnecessary. 5 drops of oil in a bearing will suffocate it and leak out to unintended areas.

I would not accept the shims as a permanent solution, I would ask for a refund or replacement of the rods as defective, no reason the two should not work together.

I purchased a New Revo gen 3 wench in december 2012. the line guide was skinning the side of my line. I used it once when I noticed this. Sent it to a warranty center emailed the Abu Garcia customer service. It is now Mid june still havent got my reel back or heard from the customer service center. This has definetely sold me on Diawa or Quantum.
