Looking into purchasing a td-ito 103hl '6:3:1 23" ipt' or a zillion 100shla '7:1:1 30" ipt'

I really like the look of the ito can anyone give me some thoughts on it. Looks like a killer reel. The 23" ipt seems low for that gear ratio though.

Yes, that's the one. I've read that already but thanks for your help. It's an 8yr old reel so I'm just wondering if it's still as great these many years later. Plus the low ipt scares me. That seems more suited for crankbaits not everyday fishing.

i want one of those td-ito's but the mint ones are rare to find.  those mint td-ito goes for alot of dough for the lefty not sure about the righty's

An 8 year old quality reel should have lots of life left if it's been cared for. 23 IPT is on the low side, but the small light spool is what makes this a great finesse reel. It would't be the best choice for deep cranking. The Zillion is obviously faster but probably not as efficient throwing the lightest of baits.

To be honest I'm not much into finesse fishing. So maybe I should look at the zillion more.

I've got a JDM Zillion 7.1:1 I might be coaxed into letting go.

Sounds like the Zillion is the way for you to go.  Not the lightest reel out there, but their weight never bothers me.  Nice solid reels.  One of my longest ever casts was with a Zillion 50th Anniversary, 12# Elite, 3/4 oz. spinnerbait and a Zillion Flip & Pitch rod...7'6" Heavy.

Yeah.  Let's see it.  Unfortunately I would probably have to pass anyway.  :cry4:

Spent more than I should have over the winter.

But I can always dream!  :teeth3:

That was my first choice then I saw the td-ito and like the bright color combo and the weight. I agree on the right rod such as a 7'6 H the heavier reel is way better. I prefer it in stouter rods personally.

It's a lefty. It also has fancy hypalon knobs with bearings, Carbontex drag, let me think a bit on price. It isn't nearly as outrageous as a TD-Ito, lol.

I'll PM you pics and price later when I get home.

I've got an Alphas ito (the one with clear coat over the frame & the plastic side cover), a Purple Alphas, a TD-Z 105HL and a TD-Z 103ML, but would love to add the TD-ito 103HL.  Love the looks of the reel.  Beyond my budget, tho.  Just because the previously mentioned reels can be used for finesse doesn't mean that is all you can use them for.

I understand that but 23ipt is low to me. I'd rather be around 28-31

Sounds good. You have the factory knobs still? I don't care for those ball shaped ones. You could keep them if you wanted.

You should be able to upgrade the gear ratio of the ITO 103 to a 6.3:1 ratio to make it an all purpose reel.
