CPBassFishing Posted June 5, 2013 Posted June 5, 2013 Epic day. went out for 3 hours at a new pond and caught some small bass on a wacky rig, then i decided to tie on a little 2" Storm swimbait. A huge bass chased it to shore and then swam under some surface junk. I knew that hook wouldn't hold that fish, so I tied a 5/0 EWG onto my baitcaster with 50lb braid, and rigged it up with a PowerTeam Lures swimbait. Slow rolled it right through the junk, BAM! Finally got my first big fish this year. 5 pounds 1 oz with the fish weight calculator formula. (not exact but this fish was over 5 pounds for sure.) I'm still pumped 2 hours later........ 2 Quote
Super User Sam Posted June 5, 2013 Super User Posted June 5, 2013 Congrats. You have taken your first step into the inner workings of bass fishing: Change Your Bait or Presentation So many guys and gals stick with one technique or bait for too long, ignoring the signs that the specific application or bait is not what they want. Great way to solve the puzzle. Keep up the good work. 1 Quote

I actually freaked out the most when I saw it come hurtling out from under an overhangin bush to chase my tiny 2" storm minnow. I was shaking like crazy when it went under the surface scum. Quote
