pricemo22 Posted June 5, 2013 Posted June 5, 2013 I'm trying to find a good top water frog or any other top water lure to use in small ponds what brands and colors should I get Quote
loodkop Posted June 5, 2013 Posted June 5, 2013 I use a black Spro popping frog more than any other top water bait. Quote
BrettD Posted June 5, 2013 Posted June 5, 2013 I use a black Spro popping frog more than any other top water bait. + my favorite color is green pumpkin followed by black. The green pumpkin is like a dark translucent green with black flakes and a orange popper surface. Quote
5dollarsplash Posted June 5, 2013 Posted June 5, 2013 I keep a pretty extensive array of colors ready. What I try to do is match whats in nature. Black seems to work well at times, but other then that around where I fish you see browns and yellows quite a bit and those tend to get bites. That got convaluted . Match nature works for me. Quote
Super User Grizzn N Bassin Posted June 5, 2013 Super User Posted June 5, 2013 Live target, NKVD sexyfrog, that's all I use Quote
Super User MarkH024 Posted June 5, 2013 Super User Posted June 5, 2013 Live target, NKVD sexyfrog, that's all I use X2 for the most part for me. Black/Brown for low light and white/yellow for daylight hours. Quote
Super User BassinLou Posted June 5, 2013 Super User Posted June 5, 2013 Depending on your budget, if you are open to $11 a frog will tell you livetarget frogs they are great. If you are on a budget, booya sells frogs for $6. Others have mentioned other frogs that will suit you just fine. I fish them anytime. As far as colors, I stick with earth tones. Quote
Global Moderator Mike L Posted June 5, 2013 Global Moderator Posted June 5, 2013 Scum...Green with black or red flakes. Mike Quote
Super User Marty Posted June 6, 2013 Super User Posted June 6, 2013 I'm trying to find a good top water frog or any other top water lure to use in small ponds what brands and colors should I get I'm not going to get into brands and colors, but the topwaters that work in large or small lakes will work in ponds as well, be they large or small. In other words, the full assortment of topwaters, including, buzzbaits, solid and hollow frogs, walking baits, Jitterbugs, poppers and whatever I might've left out. Topwater is my favorite fishing technique and I've caught fish on those lures from waters ranging from 5-acre ponds to 40,000-acre lakes. Quote
buzzfrog Posted June 6, 2013 Posted June 6, 2013 I feel like i just answered this in another thread. lol its all good, I like them and the all prduce, depends on what you are catching in the pond, booyah has just released the smaller padcrasher, so they may be good for smaller fish, but i fish them all, Quote
