Stasher1 Posted June 11, 2010 Posted June 11, 2010 I throw most plastics, finesse jigs, and jerkbaits on spinning gear. The Avid AVS68MXF does a pretty good job of handling them in all but the heaviest cover. I typically spool with 8# Sufix Elite and keep a spare spool loaded with 30# PP, just in case. I keep the baitcasters for heavier jigs, spinnerbaits, chatterbaits, and lipless and shallow cranks. Quote
bigfruits Posted June 15, 2010 Posted June 15, 2010 1/4oz and under is usually on a spinning rig. Quote
Redhed Posted June 15, 2010 Posted June 15, 2010 Both. Depends on the weight and or size of the lure being used. X2 Quote
bwell Posted June 15, 2010 Posted June 15, 2010 It has to be really light for me to use my spinning gear... I much rather prefer a baitcaster... Quote

scbassin Posted June 15, 2010 Posted June 15, 2010 I use a Shimano bait casting reel for everything. Quote
Super User fishfordollars Posted June 15, 2010 Super User Posted June 15, 2010 Everything I fish is on a bait caster. the lighter stuff works fine if you pick the right rod and reel set up to fish it with. I have one rig that is set up with either 6 or 8 lb. test. It is a bait caster with a saltwater speckled trout rod. I never break off and you can throw the lighter stuff a long way. Just what I prefer. Quote
