In the past 3 days, Ive bought a Powell Max Spinning Rod, Lews Super Duty, Lews Tourney Pro and a Avid AVC66MF.

Granted, Ive sold some stuff, including my GLoomis Mossy BSR852.

This week.

Wife agreed that once we had the new kitchen counters and backsplash installed I could get a new boat.

When I mentioned it to a friend on the phone this past week she gave me the evil eye.

Not that I plan on getting a new boat but that was the deal and she is going back on it.

Not anymore! If she was still here, I definitely would have after just coming home with an Elite-5 sonar/GPS and a MI lake maps chip.

Sam I'll take your old boat for free. Think of it as a tax write off.

Sorry Kyle, I will have to keep her for a few more years. But thanks for asking.

Nope. My money is MINE and her money is HER'S. No muss no fuss.

Nope.  She doesn't question my spending for fishing, and I don't question her purchases on clothes.

A few years ago I bought a couple HD Humminbird graphs, one of which was a side imaging unit..   She found out about 4 months later when she was in the boat and said "I don't remember these".

This year I bought a Power Pole, and it was home about a week when she first noticed it and said "That thing is just weird".

She never gets upset over any of my purchases.  She knows anything big, I mull over for quite some time to make sure I am making a good purchase, and I usually look for deals that can't be passed up.

She has no idea what I have for rods/reels/gear, even though she sees me fish with it.

We dated for over 7 years before we got married 17 years ago.  She had an idea what she was getting in to.     lol

As long as I don't go crazy she doesn't mind to much.  I won't buy anything expensive unless I know all the bills are taken care of.  But she doesn't mind a couple baits here and there.  I think that's partially because she loses so many to snags and feels bad though.

Lucky you, in our house her money is her's and my money is...well, her's.

I'm married, it's just that she knows who her daddy is lol. All of the details concerning money, and who's it was and where it was going to was discussed thoroughly before I got hit with the ball and chain lol.

I make ten times more money now than when we first got married. She still complains the same now as she did before. I don't get it. Not to mention that she makes way more than I do. (She's a lawyer).

The only thing I can come up with is that she can't believe how expensive fishing equipment is. After I'm dead and gone, I just hope she doesn't sell it for what I told her I spent on it! :)

Two words:

Big. Time.

They never see the stuff you sold to get what you want, just new boxes showing up.

Ill never forget being on the move for a new hunting backpack. I wanted one that could do it all from day bag to spike camp and carry out quarters too. Lets put it like this, those systems start about $300. The first time a $500 bag showed up she said wow, now of course again... i sold the bags before buying the next. When I got to about the fourth she was getn angry, good thing I found the one I wanted.

I never take from my family's pool to provide for my hobbies. If I cant buy groceries, I cant buy baits is my philosophy. There has never once been a collector call my house about a bill in the last five years, I pay the lions share and she actually makes more than I do. She has no reason to complain... yet she does lol.

My boat right there.

She says that she wants to be in the loop as far as sellings and buyings, but I still get the eye!!

Her latest is, "How many rods do you have now?" She says. I explain all my setups and purpose. "She I have one" she rebuttals. Lol

Got it when I went boat shopping. I told her I was only looking and not buying and she wanted to tag along. I gave the dealer $500 to hold the boat and she immediately said "You said you weren't buying a boat today. You don't need a new boat" to which I replied "It's my money. You don't want to marry me so it will always be my money." (Mind you we've been together since 1996 and I raised her kids) When I returned to hash out the details and drop off the rest of the down payment the owner of the dealership said in all his years of selling boats he has never seen a man hold his ground with their woman. They either cower or show up alone. I know I've spent more money on her and her family than I have on any boat, but they just don't see it that way.

My wife and my money are separate, she buys what she wants for her horse (she rides reigning horses in competitions) I buy what I want for fishing. House expenses are split up but the rest we are on our own. Makes life a lot easier.

I can't imagine that is cheap by any means either.
