NavyVet Posted June 1, 2013 Posted June 1, 2013 Any opinions about this seris of rods? In years past, I used a lot of Fenwicks particulaly the HMG and was satisfied but have not owned a Fenwick for several years. Considering a casting rod for Texas rigging worms and lizzards in moderate cover. Also looking at a Dobyns Champion for the same application. Also, would a MH action rod up to 3/4 oz. be suitable? I have been using Heavy action up to 1oz . but would like to go a little lighter if practical. Quote
Super User slonezp Posted June 1, 2013 Super User Posted June 1, 2013 Big fan of the HMG and Eagle GT. No experience with the Aetos Quote
Super User lmbfisherman Posted June 1, 2013 Super User Posted June 1, 2013 I have the 7'6" H/XF, I use it for Carolina rigs and will use it for jigs - flipping. The rod is pretty sensitive and really like how it feels in my hand. I haven't caught a fish on it yet. I've used it 2 times so far this year as the summer progresses I imagine I'll be using it more. It is a pleasure to fish with, I would recommend buying the line you won't be disappointed. Before I purchased this rod, I was testing it against a Cumara and Legend Tournament. For 120 less, the rod felt just as comparable in store. The Cumara H 7'4 felt crisper and lighter though, but the Aetos balanced fine with a Curado 200B on it. I paid 139 before tax, it is well made too and comes with a limited lifetime warranty. *** was impressed with their review too. Quote
Super User Fishes in trees Posted June 1, 2013 Super User Posted June 1, 2013 I got a 7'4" med action Aetos rod this spring. It has become my primary square bill rod. I like it. I don't think that I am throwing that much farther with the new rod, but throwing similar distances to what I was getting with my older rod (7'4" med action BPS Extreme) is just easier. Hard to explain, but I like it more, Quote
