I would advise strongly against the pea fowl. We had them for many many years around the farm. They are more of a nuisance then the snakes. You think a roosters crow is loud. Wait till the peacocks starting screaming. It can be heard for miles................I'm serious. They crap all over the place, and they like to fight with there reflections on shiny surfaces...............like car hoods/bumpers, windows, etc. They are not friendly, yet are oddly bold. they will get into EVERTHING, and as a bonus they breed like rabbits. We didn't have them fenced in, and if there is food and water, females for them to "guard" and a place for them to roost up high at night to avoid fox's, etc... they will not go far. I don't even recall them being fascinated by the road, they seemed to stay away from it. They taste like turkey.

oh yes i can vouch for the loud annoying peacocks...some farmer had some about a mile away from my grandmas house and all day long you could hear them...from a mile away.........

and from a long way it sounds like someone yelling help lol

There's a farm by one of the lakes I frequent that has a peacock.  The first time I heard it, I could have sworn someone was in trouble and calling for help.  I'm used to it now but its definitely a strange sound if you've never heard it before.

Never heard the peacocks.

There is a guy about a mile and a half down the road that has them and we see them as we drive by.

Beautiful birds.

They just walk around and us locals smile and leave them alone.

A friend was bitten by a copperhead this week.

She is in the hospital.

Doc said by the distance between the fang marks the snake was a big one.

She is a die hard Bama fan and a great lady and golfer. I hope this injury does not mess up her golf game.

I don't have the details on how she got bit but will try to find out in the next few weeks.

There are only two kinds of snakes I don't like . . .

live ones . . . and dead ones.

My grandpa used to say the are only 2 kinds of snakes. Rattle snakes and chicken snakes. If it ain't got a chicken in its mouth its a rattle snake, so shoot it. When asked what if it did have a chicken in its mouth. He replied its a rattle snake that was cleaver enough to catch a chicken, so kill it dead.

He didn't care too much for snakes.

Have to agree, they are really obnoxious. Funny story, I have a friend who hunts in a club a few miles down the road. A guy moved in from the city and built a house along the front of the property where they turkey hunt. The guy was a major goon, calling the game warden repeatedly for no reason, honking his horn to deter the game, etc. My buddies soon discovered that hitting the peacock call at 430 am on the way by his house would cause his whole property to erupt (he had over a dozen peacocks)...ol' boy mellowed out in time lol.

I know for a fact that guineas will "keep snakes away" (more like slaughter them all) Used to have 10 of em and i never saw a snake. A disclaimer to them though, they are literally the stupidest animal i have ever seen and theyre pretty ugly.

My mom is deathly afraid of snakes. There is no question if she ever saw one in her house she would move out of the state of FL
