Comfortably Numb Posted May 31, 2013 Posted May 31, 2013 I like fishing cranks but have never done very well. Figured I would bite the hype and try the "new best thing". I got the crank model in Bluegill. Actually one of the most realistic Bluegill paintjobs I have seen. Subtle and not too gaudy. I have been catching the heck out of them on this lure. Bass are hitting it hard as well as Bluegill, Shellcrackers and Crappie. I even got three 20+ pound grass carp on it. Hooks are not very sharp and I need to replace them next time I go to Wallymart. Only seems to run about 4-6 feet for me on 20# PP braid. Quote
aqualkinbush Posted May 31, 2013 Posted May 31, 2013 the scatter rap line is awesome. The cranks have a tendency to roll over if you don't fish them super slow. However the minnow and shad models can be burned wihtout problems. I bought a couple of each model but had my best luck on a firetiger minnow I was hammering fish from the bank watching everyone around me get skunked. They don't run deep they are definately shallow cranks. Quote
Global Moderator Bluebasser86 Posted June 1, 2013 Global Moderator Posted June 1, 2013 I've done well with them a couple times and sometimes can't buy a strike, like pretty much every other crank in my box. They do have a unique action and when the fish hit them they really seem to unload on them. Quote
Chuck D Posted June 6, 2013 Posted June 6, 2013 It's a situational lure and it works. The massive deflection angles that they generate will cause reaction strikes when fish are neutral and you are in their strike zone quite often but cranking conditions still need to be favorable; depth, sky conditions, water color, season, temp, etc. and most importantly they have got to bounce off of something to do the job that you are asking it to do; deflect wildly and look 100% spooked.
