buzzbait4me Posted May 31, 2013 Posted May 31, 2013 Hey guys, I have a tournament coming up in a few weeks and my 20 hp motor just quit working, so I am stuck fishing the tournament with a trolling motor only. Does anyone have any advice on how to approach the tournament or have any suggestions on what to do? We are launching out of McKees run launch area. Thanks for any advice Quote
robdob Posted June 5, 2013 Posted June 5, 2013 what day is your tournament? Is it a partner tournament? Quote
buzzbait4me Posted June 6, 2013 Author Posted June 6, 2013 Partner tournament on the 22nd of June. Quote
smallieking Posted June 16, 2013 Posted June 16, 2013 go north up the lake toward the flagpole lunch. throw senkos around the peninsula that is there.. also at the no fishing bouys at the marina on the way up to that lunch throw a jig on the bottom. there are giant boulders on the bottom right under the buoys.... I fish Glendale a lot and my boat has a 40hp so im stuck using my trolling motor too..... I work my way up to the causeway.. try to make it there in four hours then fish crankbaits out deeper on your way back Quote
smallieking Posted June 16, 2013 Posted June 16, 2013 also look into joining the patton bass club. its right there beside Glendale. those guys there are the best bass anglers in the state and a good group of guys Quote
buzzbait4me Posted June 16, 2013 Author Posted June 16, 2013 Thanks for the advice. Were you up fishing that big tournament today? Quote
smallieking Posted June 16, 2013 Posted June 16, 2013 naw... like I said I cant use my big motor so I only fish club tournaments there... entry fee was way too much for me to try to place in the money while only using my trolling motor. especially in the wind we had today.... my uncle fished it but only weighted four fish Quote
buzzbait4me Posted June 17, 2013 Author Posted June 17, 2013 We fished it. We fished up around the causeway and caught a limit but they only weighed in at 5.11 pounds. Quote
smallieking Posted June 17, 2013 Posted June 17, 2013 nice.... what did u catch em on? I got a night tournament there next Friday night... Quote
buzzbait4me Posted June 17, 2013 Author Posted June 17, 2013 we caught them on a little bit of everything...mostly jigs and senkos. Quote
smallieking Posted June 17, 2013 Posted June 17, 2013 nice stuff.... its really hard to beat a senko on that lake. the bass there love them.... Quote
buzzbait4me Posted June 17, 2013 Author Posted June 17, 2013 Yes they do...I always seem to catch one on a senko even on a tough day. Quote
Super User SPEEDBEAD. Used camp up that way growing up and met a bunch of really cool guys. 2 Quote
