Super User Tuckahoe Joe Posted June 3, 2013 Super User Posted June 3, 2013 Went way back into a secluded cove to take a leak and as I was in mid-stream I looked up to see three hikers (two ladies and a guy) standing on the shore staring at me laughing. After the struggle to turn the faucet off (you all know how hard that is) I zipped up and waved an apology wave and got the heck out of there! Afterwards I was thinking to myself "I hope they were only laughing at my situation". I would have kept going but still waved at them. 1 Quote
Super User ww2farmer Posted June 4, 2013 Super User Posted June 4, 2013 I have dropped no less than 3 phones in the lake, and ruined 2 more by getting them wet. 2 that I dropped were in the same exact spot, one year apart. Bent down to land a bass from the same laydown, slid right out of my shirt pocket. It took two to realize............maybe I shouldn't put my phone in my shirt pocket. The third one that I dropped..........I had just gotten off the phone with my wife, a buddy was in his boat right next to me, and the phone rings again. I proclaim "I'd like to just toss this thing in the water when she starts calling me every 5 mins. out here". As I reach for it, it slips out of my hand and goes in. He thought I really did throw it in. Funny thing was it seemed to hang in the air in super slow motion forever, I have never seem time stand still, but it did then. I also once tossed my scale over board. I caught a good one, a 4+ lber, weighed it. Then proceeded to just whip the scale in the water while setting the bass on the floor............whoops............wrong one went in the water. 1 Quote
Super User Bankbeater Posted June 4, 2013 Super User Posted June 4, 2013 About four years ago I was casting a spinnerbait under a low hanging tree limb. I hooked the tree, and couldn't get the spinnerbait to come out. Now we were about 50 ft. away and started moving to the tree, and we started hearing some buzzing. Turns out that there was a hornet's nest on the limb I hooked. Needless to say we didn't go after the spinnerbait. After about a minute of pulling on the bait it finally came loose and dropped into the water. 1 Quote
d3bf48 Posted June 4, 2013 Posted June 4, 2013 Before I knew what bass were I was fishing a lake where people threw all the carp on shore to die. Me and a buddy first time out and we threw several dozen bass on shore thinking they were the carp. Now I know better 1 Quote
RAMBLER Posted June 4, 2013 Posted June 4, 2013 Don't know if this was all stupid or just one of the worst days ever. Took a much needed day off to go hunting/fihsing. It was fall and a beautiful day. Loaded canoe, fishing tackle and shotgun and went to a really secluded, hard to get to, small resevoir. Put the canoe in the water, got everything loaded and went start the 1 hp motor. Watched the handle for the pull rope fall into deep water. Decide to put the motor back in the car and paddle. Swung the canoe around and wind caught it and slammed motor into shore, breaking the aluminum motor mount. Moter lays on the bank. I take a deep breath, calming myself and put the motor in the car. Paddle against the wind 'til I wear blisters. Get out to hunt and take 6 steps and stumble over pile of beer cans. To heck with it. Go fishing. Get to a good spot and reach for my rod. Grab the top end, lift rod, break rod. I have a small unltralight and use it and catch a large yellow perch. As I am putting it on the stringer, a family of otter come by. Canoe starts being jerked around and have a hard time keeping it upright. Pull up stringer, perch full of teeth marks. Went to a sandy shore on back side of a rock about 15 feet high. Climb up on the rock and look around. As usual there is no one anywhere around. I think, to heck with it, I will just pee on the whole day. Start to and a gust of wind hits the face of the rock and I get a shower. I decided that was all I could take. Went home. I know this sounds crazy but it is as true as sunrise. 1 Quote
RoachDad Posted June 4, 2013 Posted June 4, 2013 I was fishing with my wife and had to go into shore to get a lure out of the trash. While there with the boat basically anchored on the trash I decided to change a couple of lures so i tied on a Bagley crankbait. Since I had tree branches in one half of the boat I decided to cast it out over my wife's head. Sank this trebles deep into the top of her head. But she still talks to me. That is true love my friends. 5 Quote
