38 Super Fan Posted May 31, 2013 Posted May 31, 2013 just picked up a 7' Berkeley rod will this work? Sure, you said it's MH EF, that's a good way to go. 6'6" is fine, and can be very handy in tight bank fishing situations, but overall I feel a longer rod helps you work the lure better, and bring it up on plane easier. Buzzbaits aren't picky about line either, I've thrown them on mono, copoly, braid, and fluoro, and they all have their pros and cons, really just comes down to personal preference, and or cover. 38 Super Fan Posted May 31, 2013 Posted May 31, 2013 When you say plane...what are you meaning? Getting it on top. A buzzbait sinks like a stone, so soon as it hits the water, it helps to have a long rod to quickly pick up more line and get it back on top. Quote
craww Posted June 1, 2013 Posted June 1, 2013 Brand really doesn't matter for me, as long as its quality components even the generic $3 buzzers catch fish just as good....even the premium brands can get trashed after a few big fish. Retuning them works sometimes, sometimes you can tweak and adjust and never get them right. Quote
derekxec Posted June 1, 2013 Posted June 1, 2013 What color would you choose on murky water? i use the same for all water....my brother likes the black blade with black skirt cavs and he uses for all water and catches also Quote

bassmaster8100 Posted June 2, 2013 Posted June 2, 2013 I've never had much luck on buzz baits until recently. Most of my recent success including today has come on a 1/2 ounce Strike King sexy shad. Quote
derekxec Posted June 2, 2013 Posted June 2, 2013 i dont use a trailer hook and dont really see the need as when they hit it they smash it lol Quote
JWOA Posted June 2, 2013 Author Posted June 2, 2013 i dont use a trailer hook and dont really see the need as when they hit it they smash it lol Well my buddy swears by them and every time he fishes them the red trailer hook seems to be the ticket. Quote
loodkop Posted June 2, 2013 Posted June 2, 2013 I always use a trailer hook. Catching 1 extra bass might turn a good day into an awesome one. 1 Quote
Bobby Uhrig Posted June 3, 2013 Posted June 3, 2013 Tournament fishing I use trailer hooks -otherwise nah Quote
JWOA Posted June 3, 2013 Author Posted June 3, 2013 1/2 or 1/4 and I'm told their not suppose to go in a straight line. So how do you get them to not go in a straight line? Quote
