cyclops2 Posted May 30, 2013 Posted May 30, 2013 I no longer have any shallow water fishing to take people out to unless I drive 3/4 hour at 30 mph. Anyone else seeing the same problem ? Quote
bighed Posted May 30, 2013 Posted May 30, 2013 I guess you are saying that the birds are taking a toll on your lakes. In my area we catch many fish with the tell tale V marks on each side of them that escaped being eaten. I see flocks of water turkeys (cormorants) that number in the hundreds at times. We still catch plenty shallow or deep but I often wonder just how much of an impact the birds are. I understand they are protected but don't know why??? Quote
cyclops2 Posted June 1, 2013 Author Posted June 1, 2013 The Cormorants are eating machines. There are Loads of fish eating birds in our areas. Cormorants by the hundreds on several islands , terns several types, 2 types of herons, minks, I have noticed that there are no medium sized basses or perch. Only LARGE adults of them. We also have tons of GOBIES eating eggs & anything that moves. I even catch them on small Rapala lures. Quote
