oprcsr Posted June 9, 2010 Posted June 9, 2010 I got 3 baits today from UPS (Bass Tackle Depot) and went out on the lake for a quick spin with each (just from the shore). The Deps Buzzjet is pretty awesome and very unique. You can fish it three ways. First like a Torpedo bait, reel slow with just pop, wait, pop, wait, etc. Second like a buzzbait or jitterbug, reel it reel slow and just let the prop bait make all the noise in the world. And finally a fast reel in will make it dive like a shallow running crankbait. It has a great wobble to it whenever you crank it or pop it, and it makes an ton of noise. I didn't get any off it but I can see it working really well. I picked up two Black Dog Baits. I finally have a Lunker Punker to call my own. I've wanted this bait for a bit and now that they have 5" versions that are under or at 1 oz I had to buy one. Love it so far, got my only bass with it tonight. Make a lot of noise and creates a big wake when walking the dog. Good stuff. If you have never heard of a Lunker Punker, watch this video and you will know the name http://blackdogbaits.com/bobby-barrack-lands-giant-striper-on-lunker-punker/ The last bait I got was a Mini Shell Cracker G2 version. Looks great, ran neat. I didn't really have more than a few casts with it, but I can see it catching a bunch of fish as well. Sorry for the long post but I'm pretty happy with all three lures and can see good things from all. Quote
lavbasser Posted June 9, 2010 Posted June 9, 2010 I picked up a Buzzjet recently too. I like it as well. I am going to buy another one in the bigger size. Quote
Super User SPEEDBEAD. Posted June 9, 2010 Super User Posted June 9, 2010 Great to hear man. Those Punkers are nice. I actually forgot to get a 5" to try out. Maybe if they have a 4th of July sale... Gotta get out there to Redman sometime soon. Night bite should be turning on there (and everywhere else) pretty soon. Quote
oprcsr Posted June 9, 2010 Author Posted June 9, 2010 The Punker even at 5" is a much bigger bait over all than most I use. Heck each one of the three are "big" baits. The Buzzjet at 4" is 1 oz and looks like a muscular bee in the water. I'm hoping the Punker nets me my first Striper this season. Love the action, I just need to keep working on my walk the dog technique. Quote
mrbassky Posted June 9, 2010 Posted June 9, 2010 I got a buzzjet a couple years ago and recently added the bigger version. I love these baits for covering water when fish are biting. And they are a great night time bait. I got a couple 6in punker a year ago and added a couple 9in punkers and they are great big fish baits. I plan on getting a 5in soon as well. I had much luck on the G2 yet but I know it will have its moments. Its a cross between a wake bait, 1minus and an original shellcraker. I have 3 of the original larger shellcrackers and they are great big fish baits as well. Quote
Super User Hammer 4 Posted June 10, 2010 Super User Posted June 10, 2010 Love my punker..at some point, your gonna want to get the big boy.. Just got mine back from being custom painted.. Quote
oprcsr Posted June 11, 2010 Author Posted June 11, 2010 Very nice paint job on that Punker. Went back for an hour or so last night shore casting. Mainly used the G2. Had a nice hit on a bass that I missed, and a few others that popped it. Good stuff, really like the movement on it. Quote
Super User SPEEDBEAD. Posted June 11, 2010 Super User Posted June 11, 2010 I like the little Cracker, but I have one complaint. I wish the bill was a tad more vertical so I could fish it a little faster as a wake bait. As is, you have to reel painfully slow (to me) to get the bait to stay on top. Quote
Super User J Francho Posted June 11, 2010 Super User Posted June 11, 2010 Wayne, did you see what Paul Roberts did to his big floating Rapala? Heated the lip with a lighter, bent it, and now its a waker. Not sure you want to try this with the Cracker, though.... Quote

You are correct that I dont necessarily want to try it on the cracker. There is quite a bit more bill there. The possibility of overheating and/or burning is very real with my lack of skill. ;D Quote
Super User J Francho Posted June 11, 2010 Super User Posted June 11, 2010 You're right. Have Burley do it for you, LOL. Quote
Super User Hammer 4 Posted June 11, 2010 Super User Posted June 11, 2010 1.9 oz. how much does the 5" weigh? -gk Quote
